SleepinIn, can you tell me what kind of music is played on an Active Rock station, and what kind is played on Rhythmic? Because I dont' know. Thanks.

Just looking at the adds for Active Rock for last week. Slipknot, Metallica, Shinedown, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Nickeback, etc. etc.

The Rythmic, Beyonce, Jay-z, Usher, Snoop Dog, but also Lady Gaga, Jordan Sparks. Black Eyed Peas.

Just watching some entertainment show and they are talking about Michael Jackson's new song 'This is it' So yeah, it's a cover. Interesting. Imagine that. People releasing songs that have been released before. Let's all post disparaging things in the comments on youtube. (sarcasm - lol)

Oh, and magazines? I really can't see Kris posing for Details the way Adam did. Like ever. (Not that there's anything wrong with it - cause the pictures are really hot) But for Kris? Not so much. They are two separate people and comparing them on the charts or counting up articles isn't productive. Especially since Adam is looking for the press and Kris is hiding from the press. Maybe we should count how many times Kris isn't on a magazine and put that in his column as a win. Lol

That's what I like about him.

(By the way, missaddicted, in the record store yesterday I saw Mika on a magazine cover. I forget the magazine but it had 5 different available covers, and on each cover there were six young singers/musicians.)

Maybe we should count how many times Kris isn't on a magazine and put that in his column as a win. Lol

LOL. That's funny.

I like that Kris is modest and not mad for fame and attention, but I hope it's not 'to a fault'. I don't think it is. Because he needs as many magazine covers, etc., as possible.

I have to say there's something about Kris that I've always thought is more indie than straight commercial music biz, yet he's just won AI, so he is sort of caught in the "has to succeed in mainstream show business" groove. But what if he's not really mainstream in the usual sense? A lot of acts start out indie and are so popular they become mainstream. He has had to start out mainstream, and if he doesn't totally fit the "mainstream" he could end up scorned for the wrong reasons. I actually think of this a lot. It seems the reason some people misunderstand him or don't get him is because he's positioned as a pop star but what if he's a different kind of star? Like I said, this other kind often end up pop stars, but only after they've shown that they can sell records by being themselves, being different.

I've thought this myself and in fact I remember an article with either Simon Fuller or one of the other biggies of the 19 company that mentioned that Kris has an indie vibe to him. So yeah, we're not alone, and it might be harder for Kris for that reason, since Idol is so mainstream. But there is just something so completely authentic about Kris - he's just himself. I think that will serve him well wherever he goes.

ITA. I just think that first he has to sort of get out form under people's expectations of how the usual Idol winner ought to be. Somehow there was and still seems to be a weird resentment that he's not an extrovert.

ETA: I guess I mean online, and maybe with some press people. As well as a lot of the Idol tour critics. I still think the popularity that caused him to win the show will translate well to the public for his music career, but for some reason I don't think it can happen overnight. Quieter, more modest people take a while to grow on you. But when they take hold it's solid.

At least this proves they get him. They may even have based their marketing strategy on it. But they're probably unused to marketing this type, also.

I have a sneaking suspicion S. Fuller has a soft spot for Kris. The songs he chose for Adam and Kris suggest Kris is his kind of artist.

And I looked at the plays and Kris has 4 spins at the Rythmic station, 1 at Active Rock then Pop and HAC make up the remainder.

Are you saying those stations are in Buffalo?

No not Buffalo - although they will be playing it in approx. 15 minutes. :)
Kiss 98.5

I don't actually know which stations played it from Rhythmic or Active Rock. I was trying to find out. But I still don't know.

Dinner with Simon was a good sign IMHO, although why they ate kangeroo I do not know. lol

And JEMMA! (we miss you... are you still having posting troubles?)

The restaurant looks nice, but I'm so not eating there. lol

I don't actually know if Kris had kangaroo with Simon or not, but he did say he had dinner with Simon the same day that he had Kangeroo so that's my guess.

86 400 seconds in a day.......

What's weird about singles sales these days is that not everyone downloads songs from iTunes and not everyone uses an iPod. Did you ever think of all the people who love songs they hear on the radio who never buy the music? They're never counted. It's really impossible to know what's actually popular. I'm not convinced what sells the most is really the most popular. I love a lot of songs I've never spent any money to buy.

Any Kris news today?

Oh, and in your opinion, why is Kris's official site not updated more? They still have the old iTunes single cover. I don't understand why they don't see these websites as great publicity. Why not make the website interesting, younger, and more fun? I don't get it. Wonder if we can do anything abou this? Who do you suppose you need to write to?

Yeah, those videos are all great. He's definitely a certain type of performer, very charming, real, likeable. Did you see the video that showed the audience? It was a young audience. Not that I expected it wouldn't be, but I kind of thought with all the talking, there would be older people who bought tix in order to contribute to charily, but really weren't there for the music. I just find incessant talking during all of somebody's performances -- and it sounded like a lot of people -- bizarre. I don't think the crowd wasn't into him, they may even have been buzzing about him. As for whether they stood or sat, they all appeared to be standing. If that matters.

You have a real point there. I watched an interview with Drake with an interviewer from the Uk, and he talked about that very thing. Because his mixtape was free he had a lot of press and millions and millions of plays on myspace. He said that he was really trying to balance the music that he put out so that it appealed to both the people who had downloaded it for free (pretty much his fans with a computer) and the fans he had from Degrassi that were more consumer oriented and willing to pay for legal hard copies of thing. I think it's something every current artist is dealing with.

It was an interesting interview and it made me think about Kris. Because as soon as that single hit the internet there were downloads available for it, the same with Allison and Adam. And actually Jive even sent them out through AllAccess to it's users too.

Aw, Carly Rae.. I'm watching Josh Ramsay on MOD at the moment. If there is one more Carly Rae song that I like I will have to buy that album. Damnit.

Allison is filming her video this weekend too

It is crappy isn't it?

Maybe we should start posting there and complain about it. We can't be the only ones who hate it. I always find the official website are so slow with news if the artists themselves aren't involved in the process. It might be getting Kris invovled with the site.. or one of the other band members... maybe one will be computer savy. I count us lucky if Kris remembers to tweet. He's said he doesn't go on facebook. Maybe Daniel would like a project. He has a ton of energy.

Clearly we're not alone. This is from the website.

I'm really getting fed up with this website's non-answers. I've sent numerous feedback messages using the link at the bottom of the page about the woefully out-of-date Events section here. For crying out loud...it still has dates from the AI Tour on it from last month! I sent them follow note:
This is to the webmasters of www.krisallenofficial.com.
Please, please, please update the Events tab on Kris' website. It has old tour dates from back in SEPTMBER!! People need to be able to come to his OFFICIAL website and get information about his upcoming events. I've seen this lack of event information mentioned on other boards that discuss Kris....that his official website is seriously lacking in up-to-date information about where he will be. He's been slated for the "Live in the Vineyard" venue for months, but there is no information on the Events tab for that. He was just at the Bosom Ball...nothing was on the Events section about that. He's doing a show in Chicago along with The Fray....nothing on the Events about that, either!
Do you guys not have access to that information from Jive or what? It's something that really must be addressed. Having Events listed that are long over is not acceptable.
Please, please, please!! Update his site showing his upcoming appearances!
I also told them that we needed feedback from THEM to at least let us know that our feedback messages are being at least seen by someone and not just disappear in a black hole never to be seen again. I've tried the "be nice" tactic and finally got ticked off enough today to send the message above. I hope I didn't sound too terrible.
