I seem to remember you guys mentioning this Mika before. Or MIKA. But that's all I remember. missaddicted, I linked to something about how you verify an account, back there. The link just is "Twitter." It'll put you to sleep. Basically it's an experiment twitter is trying to keep the imposters out, I guess.

Yeah, I've seen some accounts that have that "verified account" thing on the right-hand side. So, I guess Kris could just fill the feedback form and ask twitter to "verify" his account?

I probably compared Adam to MIKA before. I still don't know if that comparision will really hold, but MIKA just seems more genuine to me, even if he loves costumes and over-the-top presentations. It's weird because I don't love his voice, though I like it, but I love his music and his lyrics.

Thanks for the video, SleepinIn! I hadn't even seen it in its entirety, love it!

And my iTunes says that it's MIKA, but his real name is Michael Holbrook Penniman. Doesn't sound as fun...

For me it's early days for Adam. Since there's still such a mystery over which way his music will go. The Time For Miracles song doesn't really reflect Adam to me, but it is clearly a part of Adam. I know he's mentioned electronic glam rock. But I don't really know where that fits in the musical spectrum or what exactly he means by the statement.

I'd think maybe Mika, or
Goldfrapp,
or
Dragonette,
or the
Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs.
But I don't really know.. Kris said not in the box.. so I'll have to anticipate there not being a box that I can classify it in, lol.

Oh, you're right SleepinIn. Like I said, I don't know if that comparision will hold. But, yeah, I expect more of a glam rock feeling for Adam, more of an 80s vibe, just like the music you posted. Maybe a bit of La Roux also. MIKA is more pure pop for me. And I'm not a big fan of the 80s vibe that is popular right now. Though I kinda like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs song you posted...

I just listened to that Script song -- pretty sure I never heard it before. Kind of had a similar reaction as I have when I listen to their version of LLWD. Nothing special. They just don't get to me very much. The singer has a good voice but isn't very interesting. Kind of a "cold" singer.

I've meant to say this before, when I've read all the disparaging remarks on 'that' blog (which, peeps, I still don't read any more, as a rule. Once in a while I make an exception, but not often)...comparing Kris and The Script and saying there's not a lot of difference.

Myself, I have only been able to sit through The Script's version of LLWD one and a half times. I turned it off halfway through the second listen. Kris, with the same arrangement, I can listen to any time. It really is a big difference. I'm not saying that it will be a big difference to everybody, but to me it's night and day. He makes the words count. And his voice is compelling. A "warm" singer. Very different.

Yeah, I've seen some accounts that have that "verified account" thing on the right-hand side. So, I guess Kris could just fill the feedback form and ask twitter to "verify" his account?

Yeah, I think that's about it. (Answering your earlier question, he doesn't have a lot of people pretending to be him. I think there were a few more earlier. But the ones that are there still have a few thousand followers.)

Mika. The video was great. I mean, the production of it, it was really clever. I don't know what I think of him. My honest reaction was, "Do I really need to see your skinny-ass body for that long?" A lot of young musicians seem to think I want to see them half naked. lol. Um, not really that much.

The song was pure pop, to me. It was catchy, I don't know if I'd remember it. I liked it, though.

I never thought of Adam, watching him. I guess I can see why you make the comparison. Adam is really not like a young pop star to me, though, He's like something very classic or old-fashioned. You know what I mean? He's not open and free and youthful. He's more studied.

Ha, you sort of said the same thing I did. Well, in a way. About Adam being sort of an 80's glam singer.

I think AI Adam might be different from the actual Adam. It will be interesting to see. And I don't think he's faking or anything nefarious like that. I just think he was showing that one side of himself on the show. Which is as valid as anything, but just not the whole picture.

Maybe we should add a side order of Muse to the Adam box too. Probably that's as valid as anything, since he's actually sang their song, and mentioned that he was a fan. Although if I have to add Tokio Hotel to the box I might cry, lol.

I had heard it before, because well, I have their CD (bought it after I discovered one of their songs as the free single on iTunes). And yeah, I think I said it before, but I got tired of it pretty fast. I like it, but it didn't even stay on my playlist for more than 6 months. It doesn't stand out, even if pretty much all the songs are solid.

(which, peeps, I still don't read any more, as a rule. Once in a while I make an exception, but not often)

Yay! Good for you. I ended up reading the comments on the Cook thread today, thinking it would be safe, but some ended up talking about his performance of Music of the Night on Idol (really? Aren't we totally past that?) and how he was not usually singing with a natural voice (what?). Anyway...

He's not open and free and youthful. He's more studied.

Yes! We'll see how it turns out for Adam, but I think I agree with that. And I love MIKA because he is just that: youthful and imaginative.

You're right (of course!). And when I say that I find Mika more genuine, it's not to say that Adam is not. I think ross had a good word: studied. And yeah, it's so easy to put these people in a box when we shouldn't... we have to wait and see.

Tokio Hotel? Yuck. *shudders*

You have a good point. When I think of Adam now, though, I usually think of the person I saw in concert. It's almost like I forgot his performances on the show. Kris, too. For all I know he still may have been showing only one side of himself, his AI self, in the concert. But I don't really see why he would have needed to. I figure what I saw is not too different from what he'll do if he has a concert in a year or so. Only it will probably be more and more outrageously stagey and colorful, as time goes on. (And then maybe he'll get rid of all that and appear in jeans and t-shirts. I can see that happening too. Whatever he does, though, it will just be another costume. I don't mean that in a negative way. That's just how he rolls. He likes to put on an act.)

I don't have a lot of interest in his CD, but I think it will be a very varied CD like the old-time Idol CDs. Something for everyone. His fans will enjoy it, regardless. They keep writing he could sing anything and they wouldn't care. Personally, I don't get that kind of thinking. How could you not care what your favorite singer sings?

Yeah, good point Ross. You saw concert Adam. So you have a clearer picture in your head of where he might be going musically.

I'm interested in the CD that Adam puts out for sure.

Maybe they're just interested in the notes he sings.... ? Hey there's a G major! (I'm so unmusical I don't even know if that's an actual note - lol)

Why do you say Tokio Hotel? (By the way.)
Adam has tweeted about them TWICE. Please don't follow Tokio Hotel's musical style - Adam.. please. But, maybe he just thinks the guy is cute.

One time his tweet was referring to the swastika jacket (that's the only one I saw) so I thought he was just making a reference to Germans. I didn't know he liked their music. Yipe. I can see Bill Kaulitz being a fave of his for the fashion, though. And by fashion I mean drag. Well, faux-scenester-near-drag. To be more accurate. :)

Ha. I didn't mean to sound like I was special or something, because I saw the concert. Big deal. It just tended to cancel out some of the AI impressions I had. But you guys saw the YouTube stuff and it's about the same.

Now that I think about it, "concert Adam" probably was "AI Adam" still. I mean, how really different could he be in the concert from what people saw on AI? He couldn't go and change his whole act. You're right, he might still be totally different once he's out from under AI.

No you're right though. I didn't watch many youtubes of Adam.. I just didn't like the Bowie Medley and I like Muse, so I like their version of Starlight.. although Adam's acoustic Starlight is really, really beautiful. And Mad World is gorgeous.. but I have the ipod version so the tour version is shaky and hard to hear in comparison, WLL... just seemed so retro to me. I just never got the OTT appeal of that one. Now the crowd response was always fun to hear on the cellcasts. Cause the peeps went bananas. Slow Ride was great though.

I think while they were on tour it's still AI-whoever. They're wearing the same clothes, saying the same things night to night, And the show is huge - they're just a small cog in that wheel, I don't care if you are Adam Lambert - he wasn't running his own show there. So I think they'll all change it up a bit from the idol tour.

Oh yeah, probably. Yes, I'm again about to talk about Cook (what a surprise), but he was interviewed today and asked about the difference his tour and the Idol tour and he said that the Idol tour was a big machine and that he wanted to make sure that his own tour was more "grassroots", that it was more similar to what he was doing before Idol, just to have a better connection to the audience. He seemed to imply that his own tour was much more him (obviously!) than the Idol tour could ever have been.
