LOL about Danny being the anti-sexy!

This is the interview where Kris tells about the tongue monster:

Exclusive Interviews with Idol Stars

Kris said in an interview that they may be planning on a college tour for him, too. How do you think he'd do with that audience?

I think David has been working really hard and hasn't been sitting on his laurels to make sure he developped his fanbase outside of the Idol fanbase.

That's so important. And not so easy. I've been thinking that since Kris is not really the usual Idol winner, it might be easier in some ways for him to do that.
It seems like a lot of the Idol superfans (like on mj's blog) don't really get him. He doesn't have the big voice where you cheer the glory notes. Maybe this is a good thing. I mean, that this type of fan isn't really identifying with him. Maybe it indicates he has a chance to have a more typical pop star fanbase.

Seriously, some fans have been to something like 12-15 shows and keep on going. Is that healthy? Probably not for the wallet anyway.

I think this comes back to what SleepinIn said about the middle aged ladies who can afford to be this kind of fan. Of course there are younger fans like this, too, who do road trips together, etc. I think this type of fan is filling up their life with the performer, like a hobby, don't you? This is where it gets weird.

Oh, really well, I think. On TWoP, a lot of his fans seem to be in their 20s. I'm a college girl (but I've been in college for way too long) and I'd totally go see him... if he ever comes to Canada. Hasn't happened for David yet.

You have a point here, but I don't think that's the main reason though. The more obsessed don't obsess because of the voice/type of music. They focus on the person. They develop fantasies. As a girl, I can tell you that a guy being married is probably one of the biggest turn off to an obsession. I mean divorce happens, but you don't really want to wish divorce on anybody! Being gay is less a problem I guess, because well "he could be bi" (or so they say).

Take a guy like Daughtry for example. Compare him to Cook. The comparision is valid. They're too good looking guys (but not models), have some sex-appeal (well, I guess Daughtry must have some, I'm not a big enough fan to judge) and make a similar kind of music. I've never heard that Daughtry had those female obsessed fans like David does. I could be wrong though, I've just never focused much on Daughtry. I don't think he does though. And he's a married man. David is a single guy (or so he says). I wouldn't want to be David's girlfriend when he gets a more serious girlfriend in his life, she's going to be ripped to pieces by the fangirls.

Kris' wife Katy? The fangirls think she's adorable, cute and so sweet. But while Kris is a cute guy, I wouldn't say that he really does have sex-appeal. Married and cute as a puppy = not the same level of obsession.

I hear what your'e saying. Still, well, I don't know if you looked at the interview I just posted, with Kris, where the interviewer asks about the woman in Arizona who has her whole house decorated with pictures of Kris, or whatever. I think anybody can have obsessed fans, actually. Daughtry actually supposedly has some serious female fans, also.

Kris' wife Katy? The fangirls think she's adorable, cute and so sweet. But while Kris is a cute guy, I wouldn't say that he really does have sex-appeal. Married and cute as a puppy = not the same level of obsession.

I don't know, ever look at LiveJournal or twitter? Apparently a lot of women think he's "hot." But YMMV, as they say.

I think for a lot of fans it doesn't matter if someone is married, they just think the person is hot and that's it. Actually a lot of sex symbols and teen idols have been married. But it can be a drawback if people actually think they have a chance with the idol and that person is taken. The funny thing to me is that people actually think they have a chance with the person.

I have no idea why Adam appeals to these older women but so did Liberace in my parents' era and he was obviously gay. I think with Adam these women are a little confused, or...I don't know. I think partly it's that they know he doesn't want them. Anyway he's (to me) almost campy, not actually sexy but almost a parody of sexy. It's so OTT how can you take it seriously. But there are a lot of women who like to scream and squee at that stuff. If fact it's almost exactly like going to see a male stripper. This is why I laugh when people say Adam gets more noise at concerts. Of course he does. Is it really because he's a better singer? I think singing is the least of it. Outrageous performers always get that kind of response. I mean, Kris is just a wonderful singer. He isn't going to get the same kind of noise at all.

For sure I didn't mean that Kris or Daughtry couldn't have obsessed fans, because I'm sure they do. Of course they do. Most musicians/actors/athletes will have that. It's just that some have more than others, like Adam. I think we both agree on that and it was part of what started our conversation. And of course some will find that Kris has sex-appeal. But again, you'll see more women talking about Adam's sex appeal than Kris'. It seems that Adam's sex appeal is the only thing they can talk about!

I think for a lot of fans it doesn't matter if someone is married, they just think the person is hot and that's it.

You're right. But we were talking about the most obsessed fans here, not the fans in general. For those, I think it does matter. Fantasies can be pretty deep sometimes.

Yeah, me too, we started this converstaion too late! But I agree. Adam is the type to bring out the crazy-obsessives in droves.

Can I respond to my own post? Okay, now you know I've gone over the edge. Here goes:

ross, you make some valid points, but you got a bit carried away, dude. As usual.
Sure, Adam's bumps and grinds turn the ladies on just like a male stripper. But what about the singing? His singing is not the least of it. You really piss me off when you say stuff like that. Much as I like you. I mean, come on. We all know you're a Kris fan, but Adam can sing, man. If it weren't for his amazing voice, he wouldn't be on that stage at all. The audience just loves those incredible notes he hits and his gorgeous singing voice, which is supposed to be even better live that it sounded on TV. And he can rock that arena. Remember, it's the whole package. Hey, it may not be your thing, but admit it, ross, Adam is giving the people a great show and they love it. So suck it up. Because he ain't gonna go away.

Um, okay, thanks.

This is a cool interview with Kris...I think from this interview that something may happen with Heartless, but he can't talk about it yet. (I don't know.) What is your take on it, guys? The questions are totally different from the usual stuff. Kind of choppy editing, but whatever. She's a fan (I guess), so she asks different stuff.

I think this is really true. I mean I know Kris has fans and rabid fans but the marriage thing really tones down the fervor to a certain extent. Especially since he's made it perfectly clear that she's the coolest chick in the world in his eyes.

LMAO - way to tell yourself off Ross!

I think for a lot of people the following of the tour and going to a lot of concerts is about more than the music, it's about meeting up with fellow fans and enjoying the music and silly squeeing together. It's just about having fun. (for most people) There's an obession factor with some that gets scary but for the majority I think it is about fun.

Kris's parents are awesome. And I loved that interview with Kris - and I agree with him I've been listening to Wipe it Away a lot and it's a really good song. Maybe not completely "finished" or "polished" but I really like it. Lovely is great too.

I don't know why I don't really love the songs from BNS. It's the tunes, I think. The lyrics are good, but the tunes don't really grab me. So I don't really listen to them.

I just came from the TD Garden, where I'm gonna see the idols in about three weeks (yay!). The World Skateboarding Championships are going on there this weekend. I saw some preliminary rounds today. The minute I got there, I saw Tony Hawk coming down the escalator as I was going up, smiled at him and he smiled back. Tony Hawk! (I'm a skateboarder; this was like an Adam sighting to a Glambert.) I also saw this guy, another huge star, Bob Burnquist. He wasn't competing today but I got to watch him and a couple of other big name guys practicing this (vert ramp).

the amazing Bob Burnquist practicing vert ramp.

Excuse the digression. Ha. Anyhow, I was trying to scope out where my seats for the concert are going to be, but I really couldn't. The whole place was set up differently. But even though I've been there for sports and concerts before, I was really looking the place over more, today, and noticing how many seats there are. Thinking of it in terms of: omg, Kris is going to play for a crowd this big. As the American Idol winner. I don't know why it hit me that particular moment but it hit me really hard. Like: holy crap, this guy really, really did it, he really accomplished winning that show, and he's playing places this huge across the country. I mean, they all accomplished something, but he won. Maybe I never really processed that, until today. I mean, I did but I didn't. Not totally.

Seeing those other stars today is what did it also. I just think of Kris or Adam or Matt or whover as 'those kids we know from TV', I guess, but they are so huge right now. It's really incredible. What an incredible thing this has to be for them.

See, basically looking at other stars being idolized in that venue today, giving autographs, being surrounded by fans, brought that home to me. And it made me hugely excited to see that concert. Up until then, I was almost thinking I was wasting my time. I can see it on YouTube. But now I know it's going to be killer. I can't wait.

I know what you mean. I think Kris is right when he calls it immature. But after hearing that Wipe it Away was about Katy and Kris when they broke up (don't really know the story on that - other than Kris wrote it about that time period) I gave it another listen and I really like the lyrics. It's not perfect but there's something I really like about it. Maybe it's the emotion. Which makes sense.

I saw Tony Hawk coming down the escalator as I was going up, smiled at him and he smiled back. Tony Hawk! (I'm a skateboarder; this was like an Adam sighting to a Glambert.)

So EPIC, EPIC encounter. OMGOMGOMG!!!! :) I get it. Congrats. lol

Whatever else this AI concert is - It is a dream come true for all of them. So it's a good thing. I'm actually thinking about buying tickets. lol.

I'm not obsessed. I'm not obsessed. I'm not obsessed. (sure, I'm not)

I'm obsessed. I admit it. It's better once you admit it. Say it. Repeat after me: I am obsessed with Kris Allen and American Idol. There, doesn't it feel better to get that off your chest? No more sneaking around, no more hiding. Out and proud, baby!

Oh, yeah, I think you should go to the tour. Read what that recapper wrote on mj's blog today. Wasn't that a great description of Kris? (And she even brought up something like what I think I said once about Adam. That insecurity that sometimes comes out a bit in interviews, the little kid coming out.)

So EPIC, EPIC encounter. OMGOMGOMG!!!! I get it. Congrats. lol

Haha! I guess it was actually nothing like an Adam sighting would be to a Glambert! I don't know why I said that. It was just cool. He wasn't supposed to be there and I didn't even know he was in Boston. So it was just a great surprise, plus, making eye contact and smiling? Awesome. And while it's great to see these young guys, and all, he's from my own age group. And the first famous pro skater. So, kind of a hero.

Anyhow, moving along...that Kris interview. He mentioned they're probably going to go international with his CD. I was really happy to hear that because he has gotten a big international response, I think. And I'd like it to happen because I would like Simon's nose to be rubbed in that.

Well, that was incredible. Seemed like five minutes of solid screaming when Kris came onstage. Probably more like three, I don't know, but it was awesome. Rickey was going crazy, himself. Somebody tweeted that Kris cried.

Kris did something with the crowd between the second and third songs; the sound was so bad at that point, it was hard to tell, but I'm guessing they did the Razorback cheer. I have no idea, though.

Heartless, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Amaing quality video. I watched it a second time full-screen. Even better.

That Tulsa video is amazing.. and I feel all sniffly over Kris's return to Little Rock. I haven't watched all the videos yet, but those I did. Oh man. That must have been an amazing feeling for him.

The Band or as they are now calling themselves MFB :) apparently did a chat with Adam and streamed it on ustream yesterday there are pictures chatadam pictures by lovinadamglambert - Photobucket

I haven't seen any video though. They did another one today with Allison and I only saw the last few seconds. But Allison did a dance off with Aaron Spears. It was mind bendingly awesome. I really love the band. The MFB!!! They promise to continue doing them. Allison is hilarious. Just sayin'

Who is this Adam person you people keep talking about?

As you know by now Kris (#krisallenrockstar) was the #1 trending topic on twitter last night, and what surprised me was when I searched "Kris Allen" this morning on twitter, several people were asking "Who's Kris Allen?" I guess not everyone is as obsessed by all this as...well, as some people. :)

That ovation last night was incredible to hear "live" on that cellcast. I couldn't believe it!

I read some tweets about that live stream with the band. What is it? ustream? I'll have to look it up. Can you alert me if one is going to be on, SleepinIn?

Apparently Kalan did a live chat on his website recently. That's the second one I've missed.

Yay! for Kris. That's great about the twitter trend - I'm glad he got to see that happen in his hometown.

Someone uploaded Allison's to Youtube already.. damn people are good with the technology.

Yeah, if I notice one I'll let you know. Aaron Spears and Dave Kokoki tweeted about it so I just clicked away. Any excuse to click a link, that's me. So cute. I only saw the last few seconds of the dance off so I haven't actually see it either.

Thanks, that was really funny. She loves the attention!

No dance-off in this video, though.

Just put the cellcast on. Memphis. Listening to Adam The usual underwater sound. Rickey has glittery butterfly wings on and is dancing with a butterfly wand in his hand. How did my life ever come to this? ;)

Adam is getting screams all the way through Mad World. This is what I don't like about his fans. Not to generalize about all of them, I guess. But it's like they don't even care about his singing, and that's supposedly what they're there for. (Sit quietly and listen for two freakin' minutes, can't you? Hyperactive freaks! :) )

I kind of think at this point Adam's fandom has taken on a life of its own. I'm beginning to think this is the way all really fanatical fandoms work. They stop being about the performer, in a way. They're more about having some reason to validate one's existence. (Deep! ross is gettin' deep, folks. Watch out, now.)

I have to say, I have never heard screaming like this for Adam before. I'm guessing undies were tossed.

Now Kris is on. Huge screams for him, too. Not the bawdy, raucous Adam kind, which is okay. This is one hell of an audience. They're cheering him through ANS. I guess they're not going to sit and listen to anybody tonight. Freaks!!

Hahaha!!! Rickey has on a grey knitted Kris cap. Okay, all is forgiven, Rickey.

Wow, Kris is killing Bright Lights tonight. I hope there's video of this.

Oops, sound cut out in the middle of Hey Jude. Rickey is freaking out!! There's the sound you get when you're on the phone and it's ringing on the other end. Okay, I guess the cell-caster picked up the phone, and now we're back at the concert! HA! Gee, that really killed the mood. The song's over now, too.
