Oh, and from Tulsa

He is soooo boring. How did he ever win??? He seriously needs Adam to take him shopping!!!

;)

I've just been on YouTube looking at Matt Giraud, because everyone keeps raving about him, lately, especially his first song. My reaction: he's better than he was on the show, and he does a great job, he really brings it.

YouTube - Matt Giraud singing Hard To Handle

Naturally I have to compare him to Kris when I watch him (since I probably do that with everybody). To me, Kris is more polished, probably way more attentive to detail. And somehow more graceful. Everything is just more professional and more like you're watching a star.

I think Kris is a perfectionist but he's also spontaneous. Matt is maybe not such a perfectionist, there's still something ragged about his work to me. But it's still really good.

Maybe the biggest difference is that I don't think there's anything great about Matt's voice. He has a lot of style, but his tone was never too pleasant to my ears.

BTW: What's the K-Sizzle gangsta look? Any pics?

Vote for Kris. Why does Adam always trounce Kris in everything like this? Well, everything except AI. How did Adam not cream Kris on AI if he has this many obsessed fans? I have an idea, but I'm curious what you think.

And what the hell is Archie doing there? Are any of these guys better than Sinatra and Elvis?

Hey, can someone help me find that discussion of the Bright Lights video I was referring to on LJ in my last post? I have a super hard time finding anything on LJ.

He is better than the show for sure, way more confident. He is also the last of the first half so I think that helps him a lot. I like Matt's voice, and he can really play the piano -- but I think his personality is what really shines through for Matt and will take him a long way. He's hilarious and a great entertainer, I'd love to see him hosting something. That being said I don't think star when I watch Matt. I don't know what it is, I like him a lot, but he doesn't have that spark for me. I don't know, I'll have to take a wait and see on Matt. He may surprise as he does have a lot of talent.

'Cause the poll has no meaning? lmao. Ever notice how many Idol peeps are in these polls? Are we addicted to the voting? I can't take the twitter wall hall of fame too seriously or remember to vote in it. When I do - I vote for Kris - cause I'm nuts. If you go to the Canadian wall you will notice that there is New Kids on the Block and Jason Castro and a wall full of random folk. The only people I know on there are RichieFavallro (DJ), Jose Theodore (Hockey Player) and DanjLevy (awesome MTV host), Strombo (AWESOME tv, radio host) (so I'd vote for them too) and some people from the band Stereos. Everyone else is some random dude. Just from looking at the wall though I see Ryan Cabera - also not Canadian - but he did tweet about Kris in Dallas. I think he said he was hanging out with him and posted a picture.
And what the hell is Archie doing there? Are any of these guys better than Sinatra and Elvis?

Does Elvis Tweet? Sinatra? lol

You too? I thought it was just me. That site needs a major overhaul. Maybe it's just as well I can't figure it out...

Does Elvis Tweet? Sinatra? lol
No, but they've got votes on there. Franks' family will break your legs if you don't vote for him.

There's a discussion on Rickey's site about how Megan's mother offered a meet-and-greet pass to Megan's fans (all three of them) (kidding...). Anyhow, a Glambert entered under false pretenses and won, in order to meet Adam, then bragged about it on VFTW. I guess.

I totally can't figure it out. It's a complete mess. There is no hope of me ever finding anything except by accident. :)

And now I've alerted him. Damn. Must. hide.

Ugh. I hate that. I hate that people don't respect all the idols as people. I mean if someone is doing you the favour of signing something for you don't scream for someone else in their face. Or brag about only going to meet Adam. They could have kept it to themselves that they only wanted to meet Adam - that takes nothing away from Megan. People suck sometimes.

Yeah, but they shouldn't have entered in the first place, because it was for fans of Megan. One of her fans lost the opportunity to meet her thanks to that chick.

Anyhow, seems I read some of it before, somewhere, but here's an interview with Kris by Rodney Ho on his blog. (Funny, if you look through the comments, there's one by a person named Cassidy who posts the same thing everywhere-- the 38 million votes/Arkansas thing!)

I didn't know Kris was a substitute teacher (according to this article).

Nope you're right - they shouldn't have it was for fans of Megan - but since they did they should keep it to themselves smile, meet Megan then squee over Adam.

Is it just me or are those comments really, really weird? Aside from the Adam was cheated since Arkansas has telephones blah, blah, blah. From fan war to opera.. very odd. And from the comments.. I don't think Danny would have won if Kris had been eliminated... just my opinion. :) I know Danny's said he would have but I don't subscribe to that theory. Even though Danny was the first one I liked from the audition rounds I would not have voted for him over Adam or Allison. Or Kris :)
(I'll give him Matt)

I knew he helped out with sports or something. Didn't know he taught.. can you teach without a degree?

Okay, this is really simplistic, but see if you agree with me. In all likelihood, Allison would not beat any of the other three in a face-off. Danny would beat Allison, but not Adam or Kris. Adam would beat Danny or Allison, but not Kris. Kris would beat all three.

I'm not saying I'd vote for Danny over Allison, for ex., I'm just saying I think he'd beat her. Basically I think they Top 4 were eliminated in order of popularity.

Adam does some things better, Danny does, so does Allison, but the thing is, Kris does more things well, overall. He's more organic. People talk about Adam or Danny or even Allison having "stronger" voices, for ex., but Kris has voice, musicianship, personality, looks, integrity, humility. And his voice is (nobody ever mentions this) the most pleasant. The easiest to listen to.

Adam has a huge amount of good qualities, also, Danny has less, and Allison (who seems the least defined, to me) a bit less than that.

I knew he helped out with sports or something. Didn't know he taught.. can you teach without a degree?

Maybe it's like you said, sports.

Can you teach without a degree? I think this depends on what state you live in. Sometimes they really need subs, and they're not so strict. And private schools don't always require degrees.

Me too. I guess that's AI in a nutshell. lol. I still would have bumped Allison up, but you can't win them all I guess. And Danny is a good singer, I just don't like his music choices.

aaaand, here is the general area of LJ where the stuff is, including some great pics today of backstage/Little Rock.

Daniel's pictures of Kris's family and friends are adorable. Like why am I surprised? The whole family is adorable. Kris's mom has on ripped jeans. :)

Oops sorry, lol. It's the (it bleeps me, lol - oh well you get the point) Band's live chat (Aaron Spears, Tim Stewart, Dave Kokoki and Antonio.. something - sorry Antonio) - with guests sometimes - they've had Adam, Allison and Michael on at different times.

They're actually really frank and very interesting chats. I'm really sorry to miss it. They've had some issues with rude folk so there was a question over whether or not they would continue to do them. But they've changed the format up so they are back (for tomorrow anyway). Moderated chat would help them out a whole lot I have to say. For me they actually don't need guests, the band are just interesting all by themselves.

Basically I think they Top 4 were eliminated in order of popularity.

By "they" I meant "the." But you knew that.

"The Top 4 were eliminated in order of popularity." That's brilliant. What do you suppose I thought when I wrote that? I plead sleep deprivation.

I have to laugh when anyones says, "If Kris had been eliminated at #3, Danny would have beat Adam." First, how could Kris have been eliminated at #3? He wasn't eliminated at all, so what would have caused him to be eliminated at #3? Some weird disruption of the space-time continuum? His inability to remember a single word of Heartless after a night spent drinking Jello shots in some seedy bar out in the Valley with Alex Wagner-Trugman and Mishavonna Hensen? I mean, all this speculation is so ridiculous. "If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

But, yeah, just for the record, Adam would have trounced Danny. Trounced.

Speaking of Adam, when he appears in those bubble tweets and puts his head upside down in front of the camera, I just LMAO, for some reason. He's such a dork, it's hilarious.

Oh, yeah, and I officially hate Howard Cohen, the critic for the Miami Sun-Times. And I unofficially heart Leslie Grey Streeter of the Palm Beach Post, who wrote:

But what if you're tastes run, say, more to the quietly brilliant acoustic (as mine admittedly do?) Then Kris Allen’s set, if curiously low-speed considering that the energy of Adam, might be more your cup of tea. Starting with his winningly creative “Heartless,” he impressed not only with a better-than-the-original “Bright Lights” but a chant-worthy, arm-waving take on The Killers’ “All These Things That I’ve Done” that amped the energy of the crowd to as close as Kris Allen comes to a frenzy. This is a not a frenzied man. He’s chill. He’s relaxed. He’s not in a hurry, because he’s having too good a time, and he’s hoping you do, too.

"Quietly brilliant." And a "better than the original" Bright Lights. Hey, Ms. Streeter, thanks for taking fifteen minutes out of your life to listen.

Of course I have no idea why Kris is always called "quiet," "chill," or "relaxed," becuase, excuse me? have you watched that Bright Lights video? But at least she meant well, and I think after Adam and his fans, anything sounds quiet.

One more thing to say in this stream-of-consciousness, here. While I think the screaming-at-Adam's-picture-on-the-monitors thing was likely to happen in certain venues, it seems too uniform. Same reaction, every venue. Stuff like that just doesn't happen that consistently. I'm beginning to suspect a network of Glamberts and Lambshanks, just as organized as the Allied Armies before the invasion of Normandy. Twittering and MySpacing and emailing and text messaging.

Thanks for the explanation, SleepinIn!

I think I'll be going on an overdose of live shows in the next couple of months. I'll be seeing Jason Mraz and Coldplay at a festival this Saturday (and others too probably). Pierre Lapointe (Québécois singer) on Sunday. A comedy show on Monday. Then probably an outdoors show by one of my favorite Québécois band (Mes Aieux) next Thursday. Yesterday, I bought tickets to see Matt Nathanson for the first time in a tiny club on August 10. And today, I bought tickets to see Regina Spektor on September 17 and Metric on October 17. It's crazy!

He is, but a sweet dork with rock god tendencies and a penchant for mischief.

I heart Leslie too. Although she promised a Kris interview and hasn't anted up yet. Howard gets a

They are an excitable bunch, I don't think I'd be too surprised that they scream at the tv screen with Adam's picture on it. They do take great video though. We must make friends, forge alliances, buy extra batteries.

OOOO - METRIC!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE. COLDPLAY - also LOVE, and Matt Nathonson should be fun too - actually they all sound fun - I'm very jealous. :)

Yeah, I guess it's about two and a half weeks away. I'm looking forward to it with mixed feelings, because it's the kind of show that would be more fun to see with...oh, I don't know...you guys, for instance. I'll have no one to bounce my reactions off of. Plus, with my luck I'll probably be seated in my lone seat in the middle of a nest of Idoltards with signs. Or worse, glittery Glamberts or Lamb-skanks.

That sounds like a lot of good stuff. I'll bet your'e seeing Coldplay/Mraz at the Osheaga Festival at Parc Jean-Drapeau. The reason I 'know' this is because I just looked it up, of course!! I mean, I also saw it last week, originally; I was looking at dates for Coldplay and noticed that they were playing Montreal two days before playing here. I nearly went to see them, here. I also nearly went to see Fall Out Boy/Panic AtThe Disco/Blink 182 (Same venue, three days later). Friends of mine were going to both shows. (I like FOB and PAD.)

But I can't afford three shows in a month. I'm also going to two Red Sox games this month, besides. So I had to choose between these other concerts and the Idols and I chose the Idols, because...well, do I need to say why? Anyhow, the Idol cheesefest is a one-time thing, never to be repeated, so it was easy to choose.

But I'm looking forward to it with some anxiety. Some of these reviews have me worried, maybe. I don't know. If I didn't have to wait the whole concert for Kris, I think it wouldn't bother me so much. Maybe. It's weird.

Oh, yeah, and I wish I was seeing all those concerts you're seeing, missaddicted! Especially Matt Nathanson, I think. Because of the small club and because I really like him.

I think you just have to let everything go and just enjoy the concert for yourself. Just forget everything you've read about it and enjoy it! SleepinIn and I won't have that chance, so enjoy it also for the both of us! And Kris will be the cherry on top of the cake, so it'll be awesome!

Yes, that's it. I can't wait. I'm not the biggest fan of crowds like this, but I figured it was definitely worth it to go. Well, I've seen both acts live not that long ago, but both are worth seeing again. The Coldplay show I went to exactly one year ago was one of my favorite shows ever. And I love Mraz live beyond reason.

J. Mraz is also playing here. Maybe I can actually go to that one. You've planted the idea now. (Mix98.5, that station that plays Kris's Heartless, is giving away tickets. But I don't think they're actually playing Heartless any more...)

That was really nicely put. I'm sure it'll be a zoo, but I'll try to think about what I'm going to tell you guys about it, and that will actually make it more fun, for sure. Thanks.

I guess you guys will kind of be "with me in spirit" at that. Too bad I'm not going to bring a video camera. I may bring a camera, though. I don't know. I can't really watch the show if I'm doing that stuff. I think I wouldn't be able to focus.

He is, but a sweet dork with rock god tendencies and a penchant for mischief.

Defnitely. He usually doesn't make me laugh, but in those bubble tweets he's hilarious. Oh, yeah, and thanks for the gansta-Kris (K-Sizzle) links. Kris looked awesome in Sarver's hat. Ha!

"If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas."

this I love.

My father used to say that! I love it, too.

By the way, what did you guys think of Sebastian Pigott's acting? Oliver tweeted he's in another thing tonight (Sebastian, I mean).
