The reaction videos crack me up. Just the thought of someone setting up the camera to film their reaction to AI - well it seems a bit off (says the person still chatting about AI everyday). It almost seems like they expect themselves to have a hysterical reaction whichever way it goes. Maybe it's just the type of person I am but if Adam had won - I would have been okay. Really. lol

I remember saying to missaddicted, a couple of days before the finale, I'd be okay if Adam won. Then later that day, after thinking about it, I had to post again and say, basically: "You know, I've been thinking about it and...maybe not!" And she replied something like: "That's better, I was worried about you there for a minute." lol

Well, actually the thing is: Adam was the "expected" winner, so I think I would have been disappointed if Kris lost, but wouldn't have thrown myself on the floor, prostrate with grief, or impaled myself on the remote, etc. I would have been like: oh, yeah, well, what do you expect? He's been the favorite all along.

But because it was Kris, I lost it and hollered and behaved like an idiot. Even though I sort of had a pretty good idea he had won, after seeing the DialIdol results the night before. But I wasn't going to get too optimistic too soon.

I actually watched a few of those videos of Adam's fans reactions, and they're all the same: shock, rage, disbelief, etc. If Kris had lost, his fans wouldn't have had those reactions because we never really expected him to win! A lot of the current fan warring was set up a long time ago by the way the show treated these two, I think. When Kris began to emerge as an obvious talent, and favorite, if the show had acknowleged that, instead of trying to bury him, I believe Adam's fans would have been cooler with his win. It wouldn't have been as unexpected to them. Just my theory.

This is a great version of Heartless from San Diego. Unfortunately we seem to get only Heartless and Hey Jude, usually. People's batteries run out or something. I mean, their camera batteries. lol

I am really, really cuious about whether or not Kris is going to do a new verison of Heartless for the radio and iTunes (supposedly it was going to happen this weekend, right? The recording session, I mean).

I haven't heard the old version on Mix98.5 at all, and I've had that station on all weekend. Last week someone on mj's blog said the station had it in heavy rotation and had played it something like 64 times in 7 or 8 days. So it disappeared kind of suddenly. As I think I said before, I'm wondering if TPTB have pulled it. Which would make sense if a new version is coming out. Or maybe I'm just whistling Dixie.

I still never read that Arkansas magazine article about Kris and his family...I may try to do that now...

That's a good point, the judges almost didn't acknowledge it as even a possibility that Kris might win. Maybe I'm just too laid back to worry so much one way or the other or maybe because the same thing happened with Rockstar so maybe I'm just used to the reaction. After JD won the (and I'll say the extreme because it wasn't everyone) Marty fans had .. well a bad reaction might be too tame a way to put it. It became almost a defensive reaction - that yes he was better and how dare anyone else vote against him. I'm seeing some of the same tone to the postings on media articles. ADAM IS A ROCK GOD SENT FROM HEAVEN TO SAVE THE WORLD FROM MEDIOCRE MUSIC. You know that type of post. It's pointless to wade into that kind of discussion and come out making sense. I think Kris is his own secret weapon just by the way he's handled everything (although you're right I would like to see him be a little more forthcoming in interviews) Really the more I see of Kris the more I want to see. (if that isn't already obvious)

And that video is great.. it even has special effects, lol. And he has another up that's clips of the whole show - but ATTID is almost completely on there. I keep editing.. lol Watching ATTID 2 things are apparent.

1) People are not sitting for ATTID (except for the old guy at the front)
2) People are surprisingly unfamiliar with the Killers - what up with that? And yet they are into it.

Oh and Heartless - did you see the post by Dave Kokoki on his twitter? He said that there were no plans to re-record it. So I don't know what the deal is there. Probably not going to happen.

Wow, I was so hoping. See, they don't play this song on the Top 40 station here, but I'm certain if it were re-recorded in a punchier, more radio-friendly version it would do great! Wow, that's bad news. It would be great promo for the tour (and for Kris), and besides, if it caught on, then when people came to the concert over the next couple of months and he sang it, he'd be the one person in the concert with a hit song on the radio.

I know a lot of Kris fans are writing on forums how they would love to be hearing him on the radio right now. And they aren't.

I wonder how that rumor got started. I was just now reading on idolforums how it is not even a rumor but much more definite. Oh, well, that sucks.

I know I was disappointed too. I thought it was a great idea. I think the rumour started on Idolforums. Someone vaugely connected to Jive said that it would happen so who knows? It may. But if Dave is saying it's not then it means that he hasn't heard anything to that effect which isn't a good sign to me.

@areasontofight probably not. although "NB" is not in the show anymore, it's still his "idol winner song" so they'll keep pushin it.

Is it possible he wouldn't know about it, since it would be Jive doing it with a group of studio musicians back in LA, probably?

He did this a lot more quietly on the finale, right? And on the show the first time he did it. I wonder if you can do "quietly" in an arena show? Maybe not. Every once in a while I miss "intimate artist Kris." But I guess he's not gone, only resting...

Here's an interview with Adam Backstage Pass: American Idol Season 8 - Part Two - Entertainment that mentions Kris a bit. I love the fact that someone bought him a blow-up kangaroo. Like seriously people. lol.

This page Q107.5 Fm has an interview with Kris from just after the finale. They also interviewed a lot of the other Idols and Alexis was there for a lot of the interviews so they ask them decent questions. They are also interviewing Kris again this week

Nice Adam interview. You have to wonder why the Rolling Stone interview couldn't be like that, instead of a lot of crap about getting stoned or whatever.

The Kris interview was great, too! Do you remember the first interviews he gave, with Adam and Allison? Listening to this interview, I think he came so far in such a short time, in terms of being comfortable and answering questions easily.

Speaking of Textgate, did you read the San Diego recap on mj's blog by Fernando? Something about: he didn't know if it was fraud, cheating, or homophobia [that caused Kris to win], but Adam was the real star of Season 8.

That "fraud" nonsense always reminds me of a scene in Citizen Kane where Kane runs for governor and loses. Since he owns a newspaper, his employees have to choose from two headlines:

If your guy wins, it's a fair election, if the other guy wins, it's fraud, cheating, homophobia...or regional voting. And someone needs to take a good, hard look at those voting procedures... :smile: :smile: :smile:

So I thought I'd go over to the Kris thread on TWoP and read (lurk) tonight because I couldn't take any more stuff on mj's blog...and I read a discussion about how Kris doesn't enunciate, forgets lyrics a lot, and needs voice lessons. I give up.

Oh, yeah, one more thing. I was in the supermarket and was looking for Kris stuff in magazines. Plenty of pics in the kid mags like Bop and whatever the names are. Posters of Kris surronded by pink hearts (!). He's like the oldest, most married guy there. Then there was a spread in a magazine like In Touch or OK, about the tour. He was actually in quite a few magazines.

That cracked me up. What's worse? Blow-up kangaroos or being on Bop covered in hearts. Honestly what do we do to these poor people?

I'm kinda ashamed to say it but I was watching TMZ tonight (I was hoping Conan was on but I think I missed him by an hour) and they had an itty bit of a clip of Kris and Adam getting their cars.

And yes the lyrics discussion was lengthy and overwrought - we need something interesting to obsess over. There are rumours of interviews coming. Jim what'shisname from MTV said he had an interview with Kris he is about to post. He called Kris a cheeky bastard.. that's got to be good. lol.

Lindsay Parker is annoying, to me, but she gets Kris to say/do funny stuff. I was watching this thinking: what are those people talking about? He enunciates! I have to stop listening to these forum people. Well, not you, of course.

Kris has a great face, you just keep watching it to see how he'll react to stuff, and it's not predictable. Despite what he says about not wanting to act, I could easily see him in the movies because he has one of those movie faces. His thoughts come out on his face. Like when she asked him about No Boundaries, for example.

Did you look at KrisAllenation? See him in the tiara? I didn't really get what the heck that was, but it was funny anyhow.

There's supposed to be a cellcast or live stream of his set coming up, over there...

I like Lyndsay - she's a huge Adam fan but she totally got Kris when she met him. So she gets points from me. Even if she still likes Adam's music better.

(Hey, maybe it's us. Are we wrong?) Seems like the only way I can keep from listening to people trash Kris is to stay off the internet. Today, anyhow. Except for here. Yeah, drop that notion Ross. We're not wrong. (that's crazy talk) But that doesn't mean other people can't have different opinions. That's how the world goes round after all.

I think Adam has star quality, but I also think Kris has star quality. So for me to compare them and compare their wattage is the way to madness. Musically speaking there is just something about Kris that really resonates with me, and I can't define it or explain it clearly.

Idol perpetuates that feeling that it has to be one or the other and for me it's never going to be that way, I like music too much. The competition ended for me the day of the finale - but yeah, I do find it frustrating that Adam gets more acclaim when I think they are both talented in different ways - but you can't force people to think the same way. And the Idol tour is such an odd thing anyway it's really hard to judge them on their own merits while they sing cover songs for 10 minutes.

It is funny. American Idol's always been a singing contest -- big notes = win (was it only last year that they added instruments in AI?) - I think a lot of people are judging by the guys voices alone. When you look at the make-up of the concert goers .. the ages are really varied. Like REALLY varied.
