I'm glad you guys thought the same as me. I'm not sure if I can watch more of this torture on Monday.
One thing I don't really understand though... why did Kris call Danny a jerk when Danny said that he had called him as the winner?
I'm not sure, myself, but I took it as kind of chastising Danny for saying that aloud, because he (Kris) feels embarrassed and guilty he won, with Adam sitting right there. Kris seems to have a guilt complex!
Not that Danny is not a jerk,
LOL!!! I needed the laugh, thanks.
Ryan was so stiff also. He seemed to like Kris a great deal on the show, and now it seems like he's turned on him or something. I mean, he knows these guys now, he could've seemed more friendly. I guess he takes himself too seriously for that.
At this moment (and I'm not saying it won't look different tommorrow) it feels like Idol is pushing it's own agenda.
I'm not sure what the agenda is, but there has to be one, because things just don't have that "all's right with the world" feeling that usually happens when everything's over.
First I guess we have to remember who Ryan is working for. Not that he's being asked to push an agenda. But if his bosses (including Simon, who's apparently a producer) don't feel good about the outcome, and he knows what their agenda is, he has to walk a fine line and please them while appearing to the public as if they have no agenda. I mean, he makes millions, he's not going to piss anyone off who pays him.
I would say at this point a couple of things are going on. Kris (though no fault of his own) somehow won the show no matter what they threw at him, and that isn't supposed to happen. Has it ever happened? To that extent?
I know TPTB being against him makes no sense, that they should just go with who the public chose and make the most of it. But I think they find it scary. What if it happens again? I'd say quite seriously he's the enemy right now and they're in meetings to make sure they tighten the reins and make sure this never happens again. I'm sure they don't like losing that feeling of control.
They pick the winners.
People don't hate Hollywood for nothing.
The other thing is, I seriously think Simon speaks for AI when he says he thinks Kris has a low chance for post-Idol success, and since the show and the record contracts are all 19E, the de-pimping will not end just because the show is over. Adam is the one they want to push, not Kris. Simon, too, because you can't tell me Simon has no stock in 19E or no post-Idol agenda.
Also, he (and TPTB) don't like to look so stupid. Simon is supposed to be intelligent, and a good judge of stars. I would say he is going to push Adam even harder now (and Kris even less) because he needs to show he's still got it. And the show cares more about Simon than it does about Kris. Kris is the Idol for a year, Simon is the star of the show. Any doubt who they want to please, who they need to stick around?
So they're still idiotically trying to de-pimp Kris and promote Adam. (And Kris is playing right into it with his guilt-tripping -- not that I can totally blame him, they've convinced him Adam is better). The whole thing is nuts.
