Canadian Idol Fans Watching American Idol

I am pleased that Kris won American Idol tonight. But I have to say both Kris and Adam are very talented, in their own ways. I prefer to listen to Kris sing. Adam would do well in Vegas, he is definately a showman. I believe that a lot of the 'former' Danny fans voted for Kris because of the musical style. I was not impresssed with Adam's version of 'Ring of Fire'. The thing that bothered me most about (some of) the judges is they were constantly saying about Adam, things meaning he was the best, the winner, see you in the final, etc. etc. And the one comment, when he performed first the one night, that nobody can top his performance. Don't get me wrong, I don't "hate" him. I just don't think comments like that are fair. Wasn't he in the bottom 3 once too? I don't think Kris was ever in the bottom 3.?

Chev, about those kinds of posters not being here -- I'm glad they aren't either! Welcome.

I hope winning is going to be a good thing for Kris. I think once it all dies down it'll be fine. I don't know what's wrong -- funny things in the air. Has this ever happened with AI before?

(Kris was in the bottom 3 once, so was Adam, both on the same night. Other than that for all we know they have both been front runners in the competition. No way to know.)

First, a retraction of the statement that Arkansas cast 38 million votes. Retractions never get much press, so that rumor will probably stick forever, unfortunately. Regional voting may have helped Kris somewhat, but it didn't account for 1/3 of the entire vote for both guys!

Second, Kris said he liked performing with Keith Urban but the country route isn't for him. (Huge yay to that.)

Third, Kris Allen Nation has a list of his upcoming guest appearances on TV.

I just missed the song, and an interview with Kris and Katy this afternoon on the car radio; heard Seacrest announce it but then I had to be back at work...maybe mj will have it later.

Kris Allen Nation has a nice essay about Kris that choked me up a little.

Well, well, well. Still trying to get caught up on reviews, interviews, videos, etc. I'm not reading everything though, some things I just don't want to read!

This morning, I wasn't feeling joyful about Kris' win at all, I have to admit. I even posted elsewhere that I almost wished that Adam had won instead of Kris. I can't stand the backlash, especially against a guy like Kris. Simon was almost nasty in his interview with Ryan. I stopped listening to it, it just disgusted me. Kris and Katy with Ryan, though? Awesome!

ETA: I forgot to add that the joy was pretty much back tonight and I'm still excited that he won!

And yay for the "no country music" for Kris! Kris and Adam seem to be both selling well on iTunes (in the U.S. at least), that made me happy. This morning, I was scared that angry Adam fans would do everything in their power to prove that the "wrong" guy had won. Adam seems to be outselling Kris in Canada, though, but "No Boundaries" and other songs are doing well. In the U.S., Kris has three songs in the top 10, and Adam, one.

I bought the damn iTunes Pass. Exclusive content for the win, I guess! So, I listened to "No Boundaries" several times today, and while it's still incredibly cheesy, I like it!

We'll see a sleep-deprived Kris on Leno soon, I hope he's feeling a bit less shocked today! He seemed to be a bit more talkative on the Access Hollywood interview that I saw online (linked on Kris Allen Nation, I think), even though Billy Bush is a tool.

Repeat after me Kris: I deserved to win. I deserved to win. I deserved to win.

Thanks for the interview, SleepinIn. Kris got no sleep, I hear, and he sounds like it!

KrisAllenNation has a clip of him singing "the song," on Access Hollywood (acoustic, with a pianist). Wow, it's like the worst possible song for him! Can't they just let him sing something right for him? It drives me nuts.

Oh, the Simon interview.. Grr.. Argh.. That was a nasty one. But I never expected Simon to roll over and say - yay. It was never going to happen. He didn't get his way and that always annoys him.

Kris has a calm about him though, it's going to win people over. And maybe he won't be the flashiest star in the galaxy but that's okay, he'll be able to make a living doing what he loves and he has enough talent to do really well.

So the itunes season's pass, eh? Do I go for that..? *sigh* No Boundaries.. Kara, Kara, Kara. Do I have to make you money for that song? Can't we just skip over that song? Pick something else?

Thanks for the interview, SleepinIn! Billy Bush was less of a tool on this interview even if the same questions were asked. I guess Kris could still improve his interview skills a bit (though I know he's been giving interviews for the last 24h), he's so low-key. And he still doesn't seem to grasp that he won! You won, Kris! I don't know if it's because he's so low-key, but he almost comes across as though he's not that excited that he won. Maybe it hasn't registered yet.

I know. And he'll have to sing it every night on tour. That can't be good for his voice. And he'll also be recording his CD at the same time.

The worst is, I was just reading the MTV interview with Kris, and he says that he would like to work with Kara. Stay away, Kris, please, stay away!

The worst thing is that I also bought Adam's studio version of the song (isn't it weird that they released both though?). They're quite different.

SleepinIn, the rest of the iTunes Pass is supposed to include videos from the tour and backstage videos and also his CD when it comes out. I figured that it was worth it.

Random question -

Who is the Idol that you are the most surprised you still listen to their music from Idol (it can be anyone)? Or maybe there isn't someone?

For me it's Elena Juatco. I really didn't like her performances on CI (I found her a wee bit annoying), but years later I still listen to her versions of Early Morning Rain and Mary Jane.

How much time do we have left to download the iTunes stuff until it's unavailable?

I can't find the interview with Kris-Katy and Ryan. Where did you hear it, missaddicted? I guess Kris Allen Nation has it but I haven't been able to follow that link (it just gives me the Simon interview, which I'm not going to listen to). Is there another one?

Kris isn't a great interview (yet. He's getting better), so I kind of want there to be that moment afterwards when the interviewer says, "I see you brought your guitar. What are you going to sing for us?" And Kris does "Heartless," or one of his acoustic versions of his AI songs. I want people to hear his music because I think it speaks for itself. I really want him to stop singing that coronation drek. It's hard to sing, besides. Can't he refuse to do it? He sounds pretty awful. (The recorded version is okay. But it's just not what I want to hear from him.)

I don't like it that a lot of people will be hearing him for the first time and they will have no idea of what he's like as a singer or performer, doing that song. It's wrong, wrong.

Isn't Simon cutting off his nose to spite his face? Why would he not promote the American Idol, whoever it is? Doesn't he stand to profit? Can't there be both a successful Kris and a successful Adam in the same universe? I really need some answers to all these questions...

ETA: What's this iTunes pass y'all are talkin' 'bout? (I can be as Arkansan as the next guy, y'know.)

Part of Simon's charm is that willingness to say crappy things. I can't say that I always love his opinion but it's always interesting to listen to it even if I don't happen to agree.

I love how gracious Kris is about the crappy song - everyone asks.. "What do you think of the song (heh heh heh)? For that alone Kara should thank him.

I have no clue. Last year, it wasn't available for long, but Ryan had talked about it on the show, but not this year.

I can't find the interview with Kris-Katy and Ryan. Where did you hear it, missaddicted? I guess Kris Allen Nation has it but I haven't been able to follow that link (it just gives me the Simon interview, which I'm not going to listen to). Is there another one?

I found it on that website, there was a link to Ryan's website, where you could choose the interview that you wanted to listen to. It was posted earlier in the day on K.A.N.

It's hard to sing, besides. Can't he refuse to do it? He sounds pretty awful.

I don't think he can refuse to do it. If I remember correctly, Cook had sung The World I Know at some of his appearances last year, so maybe it'll be the same for Kris? I hope so. He'll definitely have to do it on the tour though. But since, he'll get to perform more songs than the others (if the same format is used as last year), he'll still get to do his other songs!

Because he's a vengeful jerk? That's my answer and I'm sticking to it. I guess he can do whatever he wants, I don't think he profits from how the Idols do after the show.

That's a hard question. You mean, their music from the show? I was only a casual viewer for CI 2 to 4 (didn't watch the first season) and I can't say that I really liked anybody from these seasons (I know, it's probably a crime). I became invested in Idol with Greg and Brian on CI5. Than I decided to watch AI and fell for Cook (I still listen to his music from the show). And I've become a more invested viewer since then.

I couldn't get the interview there at K.A.N. It wouldn't play. Leno is starting!

What Idol do I still listen to? Jacob. I don't really listen to Hedley's recorded stuff as much as home video of their concerts on YouTube. Last year I also followed Kalan's mini-tour around Alberta-Saskachewan-Ontario on YouTube.

Leno is on. I keep trying to put myself in Kris's place, and trying to imagine how cool it must be for him to be meeting all these stars. Wow.

I also thought it was odd that Adam's version of ...whatever it is, I've drawn a blank...that song... was also offered on iTunes.

Hey, what's the iTunes Pass? Huh?

Hey, what's the iTunes Pass? Huh?

Isn't it on the main iTunes page in the U.S.? It is in Canada. Otherwise, check in the best selling albums, it'll be there: Kris Allen iTunes Pass.

Wow, Kris did awesome on Leno! He seemed so relaxed, I'm impressed!

And he was rocking that green shirt, yowza!

I was just thinking of something. Simon underestimated Kris all along, and he still is. Kris kept proving him wrong and I think he's going to keep on proving him wrong.

He's one good looking dude, I have to say.
