I don't know if you looked at the Wednesday sales thread on MJ's, but they were having one of those "I don't understand why" discussions. As in, "I don't understand why Kris does't sell merch and CDs and at his concerts" (because -- this is what you are supposed to read between the lines, I guess -- he badly needs publicity, and his CD sales are so poor).
The obvious question was, does Adam sell merch and CD's at his concerts? I knew the answer to this would be "no." I also knew that he hasn't had many concerts.
So Q3, of all people, answers my question and says, "Not yet," he's only had the few concerts, but "he will" when he goes on tour.
I'm sure that's true but I didn't ask that, so I said something like, "So the answer is no. Thanks."
So is this the Top 5 you guys thought it would be?
If the judges hadn't used the save on Mike, would they have saved Siobhan? No one with Siobhan's type of personality ever wins, do they? She's sort of petulant and over-sensitive. I don't think the show lets people like this become Idols. It wouldn't work for the franchise. She'd probably be too high maintenance.

I don't know. Seriously, my interest level is so low that I hadn't even asked myself those questions. And now that I'm trying to think about it, I'm discovering that I don't really know the answers.
If they hadn't used the save yet, I think tonight would have been the last time to do it, so yeah, I bet they would've saved her just to use it.
Top 5? I guess my only expectations were for Crystal and Lee to be there. Other than that...

I wonder if they'd ever just not use it. Imagine if they waited until now, their last chance to use the save, then didn't choose to save her. What a diss that would seem.
I tend to think she's been a let down to them. Not as big a one as Lil, last year, but I don't think Simon has been saying anything lately like what he was saying a few weeks ago about her (positive).
I notice Simon hasn't made the kind of predictions for a Top 3 this year he did last year. Or did he?
Who got the big backstories this year? Crystal? Mike? Who else?

You named six people. Which is okay. (Oh, yeah, you said that. Heh.) I guess I thought the Top 5 would be Crystal, Casey, Siobhan, Lee, and Tim. I kind of expected Tim to go out at 5.

I thought Tim would leave earlier, but then the judges attacked him and I knew he'd stick around another week or so.
If Kara hadn't called Tim stupid for not realizing he wasn't good, Tim would have went home earlier.

SleepinIn, I wasn't going all the way back to Top 24 when I listed who I thought would be Top 5. Just back to Top 10. If I go back to Top 24, I'd have Lilly in there. I guess, Alex, though I'm not sure I thought he would be Top 5 or just in the Top 10.
I think there were certain scenarios this season that ended up boxing the show in. The gender split didn't seem to work out. It's pretty unnatural, anyway, to have 12 guys and 12 girls, it should just be the best people. How do you guys think it affected the season? Or did it matter?

I think what they tried to do was to put a lot of girls with guitar in there (knowing that it had worked for the last two seasons with the guys) to get a female winner like they wanted. But the girls seemingly didn't catch on, or were too similar to each other, and they lost three of these "girls with guitars" right in the semis (Janell, Lilly and Katelyn), then Didi didn't perform as well as they probably believed she would, so they were only left with Crystal. I bet they thought that Katie and Siobhan would be better as well.
The Grassy Knoll believes (and I believe it as well) that to get their female winner, they put a lot of guys in the top 24 who were all flawed. Even the four who are left are flawed in some ways. They like Lee and he's compelling in some ways, but he's not a good live performer/singer really. Casey is pretty and he's a good musician, but he doesn't have charisma and he's not savvy enough to know how to play the Idol game. Aaron is all wee and cute, but he's just not that good. Mike is a good singer, but he's old-fashioned, cheesy and his personality grates. And let's not talk about how Tim and Andrew were flawed, because it's pretty obvious.
So, yeah, they tried to manipulate the season to get their female winner, and it may (and should) work, but at the cost of a pretty bad season overall.
