I seem to be in a crappy mood tonight. But, really, I'm not. These contestants are frustrating. They just have no clue how to play the game of Idol. Because, yes, it is a game. It's not about singing a song you love or about singing a song you did at a pre-school whatever.

Ugh!

Dear Michael, your list is from what year?

Originality -1

YES!!!

SleepinIn, I read your comment three times, and the third time, I think I got it. (By George, I think I got it.)

I've thought the same thing sometimes. But really, how much experience did Kris have, pre-Idol? I think he had just an average amount. Or when I saw Danny on tour. I remember thinking, "He only sang in church?" Granted, he sang in church for many of his 29 years, probably, and that's a lot of "experience", but on tour he was very professional, polished, and sounded very good. (I find his singing style awfully corny, which spoils his singing, for me, but he was professional.) What I'm trying to say is some people just have a kind of instinct, and they're geniuses of a sort. They're great to start with. I've seen actors in the theatre like that (acted with them). Have never acted before, and they're fantastic. And after four or five plays, they're even better. I think Crystal is one of those people. The others this year probably just aren't.

I do think Crystal looks beautiful tonight (I'm referring to Ellen's comment). She has a beauty that shines from within, no question, she's very cute. But if Ellen is referring to her hair and gown, no. (How come Simon didn't pick on her feathers?)

Ha, I am hard work to understand.

You're probably right about this. Maybe the natural talent has been so strong in past years that they improved an exponentially faster rate? I'm still trying to rearrange my thoughts into sense. ;)

Crystal is great.

Crystal is having a breakdown in front of the nation.

I don't know if that will help or hurt her.. but really at this point who else is there?

Okay, Crystal might be an artist. She's definitely more than a competent bar singer. Her emotion is real. And I do think she's really beautiful.

This girl has to win. I really don't see any other option at this point. She's so clearly better than the others.

And you know with all the Crystal vs. Ryan drama this week, I loved that she just picked the handkerchief (or whatever it's called) out of his pocket, so funny!

One thing about Crystal, anyhow. She's just herself.

I didn't think her actual singing was overly good tonight. But she was fascinating to watch. And she "presented" the song really well.

I know what you're saying, I think, about some of them. Or anyway, how I see it is...

Casey, or Lee (or Andrew, or Alex)...they are kind of like, "This is who I am. I can't play this game and still be me. I can only be myself, take it or leave it. It's all I've got." They seem to pay attention to the judges, to the mentors, then they go out and do exactly the same thing they did before. I think Lee is the one attempting to play the game a bit. I just don't think he's especially good at it.

But I think, being artists of a certain type, and not really actors, they're different from a lot of the contestants last year. Last year I talked a little about Kris's theatrical instincts, and people laughed at me (not here, elsewhere). But he does have an instict for the dramatic. That's what ANS (both versions) was all about, and Heartless, especially. Matt also was theatrical, or a showman (even more so on tour), and Allison, too. Also, Scott. They weren't blatantly theatrical people like Adam (who I felt was somewhat ridiculous), but this year they are much less theatrical, or entertainment oriented, in their approach. They're musicians but they aren't especially performers. That doesn't make them bad, but on Idol, it makes them dull. Actually it probably makes them dull anywhere.

Yes, I think that's a good assessment. And I at least give props to Lee for trying. I guess Mike is trying as well, but probably with even worse results. Casey just doesn't really seem to understand what is expected of him.

I don't think it's going to hurt her because it definitely felt genuine. She literally broke down.

You're right she's not false in any way. Good point.

Yep, that's sort of right on the point of what I was trying to say. They are artists but -- more narrowly defined (by themselves I think) they limited themselves in a way.

They're musicians but they aren't especially performers.

Yep, good point.

'American Idol': Kris Allen's gambling Twitter gaffe - From Inside the Box - Zap2it

I just saw the video. I have to say, after it went on and on, with the woman pushing the button without a pause, I had to laugh. I didn't read a lot into it. It was funny because it was absurd, and I think Kris just thought it was goofy. I have no way of knowing if the woman was a compulsive gambler or not based on watching her for 37 seconds. I don't think her being in a wheelchair was relevant. That part definitely seems like one of those made-up Glambert "concerns."

If one of my friends tweeted this, I would think nothing of it, but now that Kris is held to a higher standard than us "real people", he shouldn't do anything that could be construed as mocking people. I have a feeling he does like to mock people a bit, and it's something he and Adam have in common, they're both a little bitchy. But yeah, best not to assume the world shares or understands your sense of humor. Plus, he could get sued.

I think it was a rare misstep by him, but nothing very bad. Just stupid. Remember, the Glamberts also tried to make a case out of the picture of him and Cale pissing. The comments under this article aren't bad.

Once again Crystal was the best, followed way back by Michael. The rest of the performances were poor to say the least.

Oh, but THAT was funny. You made me think about it and I chuckled. You're right, it was a rare misstep, everyone's allowed to make a few mistakes after all.

Kind of a funny comment:

You know, Kris can't do anything with the Glamberts verbally attacking him. If he doesn't wish Adam Lambert Happy Birthday by 7:00 a.m. on said birth date, it's just too bad because they will be on him like flies on honey.
