I'm catching up on twitter right now... seems Jim didn't like tonight's show, LOL. He kept repeating NO all the time. Can't wait to see his video reaction.

Seriously, there isn't one performance from tonight that I would go back and re-watch. NO.

Someone on MJ's said something about the Top 5 being all guys on CI its final season, as if it was just because women viewers only vote for cute guys. I called BS. Those guys were the five best contestants that season (along with Amberly). They were a fantastic Top 5. AI should be so lucky this season.

AGREED!! One billon eleventy percent!

From a post on TI:

People keep bringing up this supposed success in Canada but I live here and I don’t see it. Maybe I’m too young because he’s certainly not a favourite amongst the university crowd or maybe it’s our snobby attitude in Montreal to everything commercial and American. I didn’t even watch American idol until my dad and grandma said I should to see some amazing guy named Adam lambert and I watched it and preferred kris to my dad’s horror.
I’m going off topic. The point is none of my friends are fans, no one I encounter ever mentions this guy. The only thing I have heard about him here is when my friend who is living in Toronto called me and said that Adam was at Much Music and that he wasn’t sure if what he was hearing were girls screaming or Adam singing.
Really, going platinum in Canada means nothing (no offense to my beloved country) but there are tons of recording artists that have hits here and nowhere else and everyone forgets about them super fast. If you’re not a Canadian artist you’re not going to get the Canadian loyalty.
That being said, we have unleashed the likes of Nickelback and Bieber on the world so I don’t think the Glamberts should be in any hurry to thank Canada for its musical “taste”. (sorry again to my beautiful country)

LOL!!

OMG, Q3 is saying on MJ's blog that Adam turned down SNL and Glee because he thought they had some bad approach to gayness or something. Like he would EVER turn down those shows.

Well, I don't agree with a lot of this post.

he’s certainly not a favourite amongst the university crowd

Though, I'm pretty sure that's true.

maybe it’s our snobby attitude in Montreal to everything commercial and American.

Not true. Mostly. Maybe in some quarters, not the general population. Of course, not a lot of people watch AI here. But Adam is playing a lot on one of the main francophone top 40 station, and WWFM was even number 1 on their most requested list recently.

That being said, we have unleashed the likes of Nickelback and Bieber on the world so I don’t think the Glamberts should be in any hurry to thank Canada for its musical “taste”. (sorry again to my beautiful country)

Well, if that person only knows Nickelback and Bieber as Canadian artists and thinks that represents well our musical taste, she sucks. Lots of amazing artists in Canada. You know, I'm admittedly not a big Canadian patriot (hum, Stephen Harper, anyone), but I'll always defend the Canadian artists. I think this country must have one of the biggest concentration of talent of any countries.

Also, that top 40 station reaches people who mostly don't watch AI I would say. They never play anything from Idol alums. So Adam did break out of the Idol mold somewhat in Montréal. A lot of people listen to that station. It's not an obscure market in the midwest, it's probably in the top 10 of the biggest markets in North America. I'm sure he gets played in Toronto as well, which is an even bigger market.

Yep, CHUM plays Adam all the time. Seriously, ALL DAY LONG at work. I think they want him for the Much Music Video Awards though since he did the CTV saturation media day. They love them some Adam.

My own experience:

I have to say I have hardly ever heard anyone I know say they like Adam. Most people I know have never even heard of him, or if they have, they think he's a poseur or they hate his music. I myself never listened to Top 40 until I started watching AI, and nobody I know over age 17 does. I hear people talk about Lady Gaga, but not Adam.

I don't know who buys Adam's album (but I suspect his fans have all bought at least 3 apiece), so the people I know are only aware of what they hear on the radio, and to them Kris and Adam are radio successes (on HAC). (If they even know who Kris and Adam are. AI is not as popular as it used to be.)

By the way, I heard LLWD 3 times today! I heard it on Seacrest, then a little bit later turned the station and it was on 104.1. Then later I heard it again on one of these stations.

I don't know anyone who likes Adam either. But I didn't really expect to. I was just talking about the situation in general. As much as I want to avoid everything about Adam as much as possible, I just wanted to point out that it's not accurate to say that he's not successful here in Canada. He's definitely reaching fans who didn't know him from Idol (at least here in Québec). For sure, Lady Gaga is more known, but Adam's success in Canada still isn't something that the Glamberts invented.

nobody I know over age 17 does

Well, you know me! Though I listen to it less and less (and the radio station I listen to isn't as bad as some of the American stations I believe, they do have some variety in their music). And the people who listen to that station are not only the kids and teens. They really attract all ages.

Yes, I know you! Haha. No, I was trying to say what the situation is like here where I live. I know one girl who listens regularly to Kiss108. She's 17, I work with her.

Let me put it another way. Back in the day, everyone I work with was talking about AI, Ruben and Clay, etc. None of those same people still watch AI. When I mention the contestants, I get blank looks.

I agree that Canadian poster was wrong in saying Adam hasn't had success in Canada. I think she makes a point, though, that his popularity isn't all-inclusive.
He's apparently not relevant in her sphere.

That's true. My work is still interested but it's not like it was. Even the internets are not as invested.

And if it ends this year.. well, I'm not going to be too upset after this season. :/

For sure, I don't discuss AI with people in my real life... nobody I know watches it. So, in that sense, I can't really judge.

I'm glad you guys clarified that stuff about Canada for me. I didn't take that poster's words as gospel, I just thought it was something to talk about.

Did you guys hear that there is a station in Atlanta that is playing Heartless enough to get it into the top 100? Too bad they didn't play it when Boston was it could have moved up, lol.

Someone's facebook I think. It's hilarious. LOL. I love Kris's laugh. Seriously. If they do a video for AWM, they need to include his laugh somewhere. :)
