Ha. I can't listen to the song because I'm watching a movie, but the pictures are beautiful.

Previously, just hearing the song, it didn't sound that intense. Seeing him perform it is very intense. I was noticing that characteristic thing he does of bending forward at the hip, going back and forth. He does that standing up, usually. It's just a Jacob thing.

He just throws himself into it doesn't he? Love it.

Gah, SleepinIn, 3 versions of I Believe? LOL. And I actually listened/watched the bilingual one to see the montage of Olympic moments. Fail!

Okay, I guess you guys like Danny Gokey. Me no like, even slightly, but anyhow I'm very surprised that acoording to MJ's blog posters, his album is supposed to debut at #5 on the Billboard 200. And, of course, it's still #1 on iTunes. I'm not sure what he did (I mean, musically, or publicity-wise, either one) to have this kind of debut. Was it just that song he sang on Idol? It couldn't have been his nutty-as-hell chattering.

Hey, here's a weird thing. The big Adam fans, especially the ones I can't stand, you-know-where (that blog), are all saying nice stuff about Danny. I mean, the ones who spend most of their time putting Kris down. What is that about? I think they're delighted he's "beating" Kris on iTunes. That's all I can guess.

Ryland and Drew look like two (cute) dorks. And I say that in a good way, I love dorks!

About Danny's album (maybe) debuting at #5, it all depends on what are the other albums on the charts. I don't think there are many big releases right now, so the competition is not as huge as when Kris's album dropped, when all the big releases debut (before Christmas). From the HDD estimates I saw, they still predict that Danny will sell less in his first week than Kris did.

Also, I think we can count a bit on the "country" factor. It seems country music fans still buy more albums than most fans of other genres. For sure, Danny is very new to the country world, but he seems genuine enough that I guess country fans might embrace him. Of course, I don't know a lot about the "country world", it's just a general impression.

(I wouldn't say I "like" Danny. "Like" is a bit strong. Maybe "don't mind in small doses" would be a good substitute!)

Thanks for those answers missaddicted. Good answers.

Since Danny doesn't seem to have been out there all that much, hasn't had that much promo (at least according to how much MJ has featured any of his appearances), I guess I'm just surprised at the iTunes and Amazon numbers for someone who is basically unknown outside AI, and doesn't have the winner's publicity, or Adam-type publicity. Like, yeah, a lot of people buy country albums but how many country fans know Danny?

I'm watching the VH1 countdown, from Beaver Creek, Colorado. The Script is there, and well as Uncle Kracker and others. It has to do with VH1's Save The Music Foundation. The host just announced there's a "first time" #1 video this week. Possibly, The Script? (btw, I didn't vote one time, for Kris, last week. Completely forgot.)

(I wouldn't say I "like" Danny. "Like" is a bit strong. Maybe "don't mind in small doses" would be a good substitute!)

I'm like that. Maybe the doses, for me, would be even smaller!

The Script was #1. Orianthi #2. Adam Lambert (some new artist I never heard of) was #3. Lifehouse was down to #4. Boys Like Girls was #5. Lady Antebellum was #6. Kris is holding steady at #7.

The Script talked about Kris. Host: Are they proud or angry Kris had such a popular hit with their song. Script: "Really proud". His success helps people check out their music, and vice-versa. (I think Kris's doing LLWD has helped them get name recognition. I don't think it esp. works in reverse.) The host then asked a few times if they think Kris does a good job with the song, and they kept answering yes. Seemed he was really trying to get them to say something negative or snarky. Then he asked the singer how he thinks Kris does with "all the words". Reply: "Great." So finally he says he thinks the guy from the Script is slightly better at songs with a lot of words in them than Kris is (guess he never heard No Boundaries). The singer from The Script says that's probably that was because he's bigger. "I'm six foot four, and he's four foot six."

On her blog, in the headlines, MJ has a link to an AOL discussion with various AI "experts". It has Rickey on it (automatic fail).

Warning: some of the people are annoying. Tell me if you agree. Rickey (ugh) and MJ come across best. I tend to agree with MJ on a lot of points. On that video screen leaning over the panel she looks like the Great and Powerful Oz. "Bring me the broomstick of Paula Abdul!"

I can't do the link, for some reason.

Ryland and Drew really look alike in those photos. :)

About Danny. I think Danny had a lot of fans. I mean this is for sure a less congested time to release a CD plus he's not competing with 2 other people fresh off Idol like Kris did - I still think they should have waited to release Allison's album - for her sake - but there are a lot of people that liked Danny a whole lot. Plus Danny got a lot of pimping on Idol. A LOT. For all the flack that he took on the internet, it didn't really translate to real life - people liked him and his voice. And maybe he hits the old time traditional Idol demographic more squarely than Kris, Adam or Allison.

I'm really glad that the Script was complimentary towards Kris, because I do think Kris doing LLWD really helped them out in the US. For one thing I'd never heard of them (even if I did have one of their songs on my ipod) so I'm glad they hit #1.. and talked Kris. :) I do love Breakeven so they deserve it. Plus I didn't vote either. :)

We are a bunch of bad fans! LOL. I didn't vote either.

Yeah, I think you're right about Danny, SleepinIn. He did have a lot of fans, probably a lot more than Allison did coming out of AI, for example. If they followed him on the "country" trail, well good for him!

That sounded like a great show!

Do you follow the AI9 contestants on twitter (well the @AI9contestants twitter account)? Crystal's tweet made me LOL:

Oh my god. I have glitter on my face…

They all seem pretty happy! Here's Alex:

This: How to Ruin a Rock Star's Career in 10 Tweets | DavidCookOfficial.com

Shows both how some Cook fans can be despicable because of their obvious ignorance and craziness and also how some fans are good to try to rationalize things to keep the crazy under control. Thankfully, these fans exist. Reminded me of their spam-a-lot (or not!) thread that they made to avoid situations like what happened with the Glamberts and Adam's requests to them to stop spamming the radios.

So far I haven't been following them on twitter. I'll have to do that.

From the pictures and the review I think they did the same kind of show in Vail they did in Worcester. Semi-acoustic. I'm not sure why. But they're really good at it.

I can't believe fans act like that. Talk about people not minding their own business. That's crazy. Can you believe these people think they're doing a good thing? Weird.

You reminded me of something. I was listening to Kiss108's Top 7 at 7 last night in the car, and Adam came in at #2. Justin Bieber was #1. I think the countdown is based on requests. I think currently these two may have the most active and devoted fans in fandom.

Anyhow, what was weird was that I listened to the last four artists in the countdown, and they were Lady Gaga, Orianthi, Adam, and Justin. But they announced the name of every singer other than Adam, and made a little speech about them. They played WWFM, but never said his name, either at the beginning or the end of the song. I wondered if this was a deliberate slight. Then I made the leap to thinking the DJs may be annoyed at Adam's fans and their pushiness. I know that's quite a leap. It was just a feeling I had.
