Watch this clip...Jamie Foxx talks about Kris. Jamie on "Ellen."

Reading an article about the finale and the guest stars. The comments are unbearable. I mean, unbelievable. I can't believe his parents didn't write this stuff.

The star of Idol will already be there. Three songs from Adam is enough for me……He is the best…..and Adam’s Army will be there Tuesday night for him.

They should forget about the entertainers and just let Adam sing longer
versions of his songs. We will have every telephone in the neighborhood
going for the full four hours. Adam has won the competition and he deserves the
the title.

Agree with the previous posts. Win or lose, ADAM is the star on that stage and it should be his night. Forget the filler…the only thing I want to see is more ADAM.

i love adam lambert…gosh! he’s so great! awesome!

No, Kris will get the support of “silent” voters and will WIN!

I don’t think anyone can upstage Adam but, why spoil his fun! I bet he is looking forward to meeting all those stars and seeing them perform.

ADAM IS A PHENOMENON! A SENSATION! ONE OF A KIND! A STAR THAT CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN!…..HE WILL BE THE ONLY SHINING STAR AT THE FINALE!

KEITH URBAN will be the best performer on the Idol stage…..But if I had to chose between Adam and Kris….then Adam is my choice!!

Sounds to me like a whole lot of stars are coming out for the final to be seen in the company of Adam. I agree - give me more Adam - save the other acts for their shows - I want to see the Adam Lambert Show Tuesday.
(I think Kris is adorable and I hope he has a wonderful career in music.)

ross, step away from your computer before it's too late!

Well, I'm mainly kidding, but please, for your health, don't try to angst too much over comments like these! I'm concerned for you! For sure, it was going to happen and I even think that it's not that bad this year. The two of them are mostly well liked and a lot of people think they're both deserving and that they're the right final 2.

What is the rumor right now? I mean, that Mraz is dueting with someone else? (Who?)

Keith Urban? The human sleeping pill? With Kris? I hope it's only a rumor.

Oh, I guess I didn't explain myself well. It was said in an article about Keith Urban that he would be performing with Kris next Wednesday. Jason Mraz posted on his website that he would be performing on the Idol finale, not necessarily performing with one of the Idols. So I guess, the Kris/Urban duet is more probable than the Mraz/Kris duet and I wasn't really happy about that. I don't really know Keith Urban (Nicole Kidman's husband, is that him?), but he's a country musician and I don't like country so that's understandable. I just don't really see how Kris and Keith Urban fit with each other since Kris isn't a country singer. Well, Cook sang with ZZ Top last year so whatever!

What? They can't choose their own song? They have to repeat something they already sang? Why? They never had to do that before, did they? And why must Simon Fuller choose a song? What the hell is the point? And then...a coronation song? By Kara, no doubt? This is murder. I don't think I can stand it.

I believe that it's mostly been the norm on AI for the finalists to reprise a song. Last year, they were given the chance to choose between a new song and a reprise and only Cook did a new song (and it was then that my Simon hate started when he told him that he should've done Hello or Billie Jean instead of The World I Know, which was truly beautiful).

Also, I think it's also pretty standard to have the producers' choice. Even on CI, they usually have another judges' choice during the top 2. I just hope that Simon Fuller has better tastes in music than Clive Davis (who chose last year), since the running gag is that Davis only knows like 5 different songs!

They both made it to the end of the show, one will get a contract right away the other will have to wait a bit. But for someone who is inspiring people to vote in the millions that contract is going to come, and fairly soon too.

Actually, last year, Archie was even signed (to Jive I think) a few days before Cook or right at the same time, so there wasn't even a delay! And his CD came out like the week before Cook's if I remember correctly.

I kinda wish some of the CI's had a tenth of the opportunities that machine brings them. Although maybe it's a double edged sword too sometimes.

I agree with you there. Except for Jacob and maybe Kalan, in six years of the show, barely anyone has managed to gain mainstream success. At least, AI has been able to "create" successful artists, and even stars.

Eff you, Elliott.

Well, I think Elliott was a big Danny fan (read that in an interview somewhere), so maybe he's mad that Kris is still there and not Danny. Or whatever, I can't really care about his opinion.

And yay for Jamie's man-crush on Kris. I think Ryan also seems to really like him, he just seems to want to gush about him whenever he can.

Thanks for your concern, missaddicted. I decided to get out today and try to remember a world before Adam Lambert. A happy, peaceful world. I was doing fine, too, until, in a record store, I happened to pick up a copy of Rolling Stone, and read the headline: How Adam Lambert Single-Handedly Saved “American Idol” lol

Had a funny experience in line yesterday talking to an older woman (probably in her 80's). We got talking about AI and I asked her who she liked. She said, "Adam. Oh, I love him. You know, you'll think I'm crazy, but, there's something about him, he reminds me of Elvis." (No! really?) A bit later she said, "They say he's gay, but that doesn't bother me. If I was a few years, younger, he'd have to watch out!" She was hilarious. "So," I asked her, "Do you vote?" "Vote? Are you kidding? No!"

I did manage to find a few Kris fans in my travels, today (my sort of informal survey). In fact, only Kris fans, today. Two women in the record store ("He has class." "There's that thing in his voice, that catch, or something, it's thrilling."), and a buddy of mine who I didn't even know watched the show. (His girlfriend does, so he does.) A "casual viewer." Thought "Heartless" was amazing. Thinks Adam is
much less humble than he tries appear. Thinks Danny is a douche. (Okay, I made the last one up. lol)

Are they really trying to get David Bowie for Adam? If so, how about trying to get Paul McCartney, for Kris? No?

Bruce Springsteen? Jackson Browne? Bob Dylan? No?

Keith Urban. Yeah, that sounds about right.

KU is hugely popular. I just can't see him with Kris. As you said, Kris isn't country (I hope nobody's trying to put him in that box, post-Idol. I may have to scream, if that happens.)

Yeah, I didn't even want to read the Rolling Stone article. Some posted about it on DC=42 (David Cook forum) and a lot of us complained about how the OTT praise for Adam is starting to annoy big time. Yes, my feelings have changed a bit since yesterday. It seems some fanwars have started and today I've seen more comments like "OMG Adam is a star, Kris is so undeserving/mediocre" or "If you don't vote for Adam, then you're homophobic" than I've wanted to. And I wasn't even looking for them, but they were there: on YouTube, on MJ's blog, etc. So, it's not OK that I just prefer Kris' style and voice more? Apparently, no, it's not possible, Adam is such a superior singer and a superior performer. Whatever.

Anyway, I guess I don't want to take it out on Adam, because I do think he is hugely talented, but people are comparing him to Madonna, Bowie, etc and saying how he's going to be that great iconic figure for the next 50 years or whatever other ridiculous thing. No pressure, Adam, no pressure.

Also, the posters on David Cook's forum were a bit offensed because of how Rolling Stone (and others) are saying that Adam "saved" American Idol, mainly because Adam has said several times now that if it hadn't been for Cook, he might not have auditioned and that he inspired himself greatly from the way David played a strategic game to win Idol.

KU is hugely popular. I just can't see him with Kris. As you said, Kris isn't country (I hope nobody's trying to put him in that box, post-Idol. I may have to scream, if that happens.)

The thought crossed my mind too and it was a scary thought. As for getting Bowie for Adam, I'll believe it when it happens. It's still at the level of fanwank right now (rumors at JoesPlace too, but they haven't always been right). Would they even sound good together?

I hope you told all the Kris fans that you saw today to pick up the phone and send him a few votes!

Tell me about it! It's escalating, big time. I was over on mj's blog and I ended up posting a response to one of those people who say stuff like Kris is a nice guy and an okay singer, but he doesn't deserve to stand on the same stage as Adam.

A few people argued, and I tried to respond, but then I just logged out. (And came over here!) I'm not into that.

Kris's fans have been, overall, more gracious. Not all, I suppose. But a lot tend to acknowledge Adam's talents while saying they prefer Kris. I don't see much of that from Adam's fans.

I hope you told all the Kris fans that you saw today to pick up the phone and send him a few votes!
Damn, no, I didn't! Well, I know my friend wouldn't, anyhow. Funny thing, I can't believe how much I've voted. Never would have predicted that. Another funny thing is: I could never picture either of those two guys (Kris and Adam, I mean) voting for two hours for any contestant on a show like this.

quote] Anyway, I guess I don't want to take it out on Adam, because I do think he is hugely talented, but people are comparing him to Madonna, Bowie, etc and saying how he's going to be that great iconic figure for the next 50 years or whatever other ridiculous thing. I doubt that will be the case. But I don't really get Adam, so maybe I'm wrong. I mean, the show has only been on a couple of months and I'm already really weary of listening to Adam's voice. Wouldn't it be funny if Kris was the one, not Adam?
[About my comment that TPTB might be trying to "niche" Kris as a country singer:] The thought crossed my mind too and it was a scary thought.
Any thoughts at all on why they've put Kris with a country singer? It's weird. If Kris were to make a record, and the industry really is all about which "slot" a singer belongs in, what would you say is his slot?

Kris and Adam react to making top 2. I think it's interesting how, in their remarks, Kris talks about Adam, the other contestants, the people in his town, etc., and Adam talks about...Adam! I've kind of noticed that before.

I think his slot his definitely the pop-folk singer/songwriter slot (with bonus soulful voice). That's exactly what "Brand New Shoes" sounds like. I guess he could go the pop-country road too, but I hope not. Nothing he's done on the show or on his own CD sounds really country to me. Maybe they want to test what he sounds like with/as a country singer like Keith Urban. Gah, scary thought again. Or it could mean nothing. I mean, ZZ Top are a rock band I guess, but they don't really have anything to do with the kind of music Cook wanted to do or ended up doing. At least, Keith Urban is current.

David Cook will be singing Permanent on the finale Wednesday. It's the song he wrote as a dedication to his brother Adam. I'm probably going to cry and he might too, but I hope not. He hasn't even done it on tour in a lot of time, it's for sure going to be emotional for him. Anyway, they will be selling the audio and the video on iTunes and the money will be donated to his charity for Brain Cancer.

I'm oddly calm right now. I guess I've read so much angst during the weekend that I've managed to get past that point and just look forward to the shows this week, whatever happens.

OK, I apparently can't edit my previous post, but here is the answer to your question, ross, directly from Kris' mouth:

What Kris says his first album would be like: "A pop singer/songwriter kind of album. Just good music, something everyone would want to listen to."

From this USA Today article.

I really can't listen to Keith Urban, I'm that lacking in country music love. If "they" persuade Kris his future lies in that direction, I can't be held responsible for what havoc I might wreak on the world.

On mj's blog, a poster has suggested for weeks that Kris should be a country crossover artist. Apparently the Idol record label has a country division. Etc. The stuff of nightmares.

Just started to read the USA Today article. Starting to feel better. Calming...down...now...

Danny is supposedly singing with Lionel Richie on the finale. I heard a rumor that Matt is dueting with Jason Mraz. (Or Scott is. Or Megan.)

Did you see the article about today's press conference with Adam and Kris?

Well, good news in Twitter land. Some actual idols, at last. Since Ryan Seacrest is following them, and since they're all following each other, and for various other reasons, they're obviously real. Anoop (who posted pix of reharsals), Matt, Sarver, Gokey. Ricky Braddy, Alex Wagner-Trugman (hilarious). No Adam or Kris, yet, or course.

I'm oddly calm right now. I guess I've read so much angst during the weekend that I've managed to get past that point and just look forward to the shows this week, whatever happens.

Wow, I'm not. I mean, I am, but I'm not!

So what do you think? No instruments for the coronation song. No new songs. Somehow this stuff seems to favor Adam. It would benefit Kris at this point to pull out another surprsing new song like last week.

I have no doubt on a level playing field Kris could best Adam; I think he did it last week. But if he doesn't have at least two great songs tomorrow, I don't know.

Oh, it might be, I don't know. I thought they were really them, too. But "MattGhere" was a fake. Or so says the real Matt (I think he's real, anyhow). Anyway, guess we'll know after the show's over!

"LIVE POSTING"

Mad World. Adam repeats what many consider his best performance.

Is this the Tony Awards?

The usual Adam raves, only more so.

I didn't think he sang the song well! He didn't feel or convey the lyrics at all. It was like a scene from a play (Hm...I see Simon agrees with me. I don't like it when Simon and I agree). He sounded great, looked great, he performed well and was mesmerizing..but...I don't know. Definitely not like the first time.

Kris: Killed.

What? What's this? Randy: "Simon, who won round one?" Is this how they're going to play it? Who won each round? Yipe. *scared*

I don't like that Simon can't seem to give Kris an unqualified compliment. It's always something like: I was ready to count you out, you sucked, but now you don't suck, you're actually good.

Simon Fuller's picks.

Very bluesy number for Adam. Oh, he's going loud, now. Very loud towards the end. Screamage. Why? Gee, I wish he would dial it down. This is a really odd choice for him. "Best performance," says Kara. Paula's rising from her seat. HERE COMES THE PIMPING. Paula has an orgasm on national TV. I have no idea what she said. She said "ever!" a lot. Simon: 100% back in the game. I don't know, I guess I'm not a big Adam fan. I thought it was OTT. Just sing the song, what do think this is? American Idol?

Now that Kris just left his guts onstage in the last performance, how can he come out and top it? He probably can't. What's Goin On? Good song. I feel bad he has to do this for competition, it's a very mellow song. He wouldn't have chosen this himself in a million years. Kris is lookin' good, man. Simon, who won this round? Million percent Adam. (Did you think tonight would be the end of this kind of thing, ross? Think again.)

Now all that's left is the crapfest, er, I mean, coronation song.

This is what I have been thinking about for a few days: this is the last chance these guys have to impress millions of people, and they only get to pick one song of their own?

Adam goes first. I'm sorry, but: screamy cheese. Not his fault for the cheese. Though he certainly does nothing to de-cheese it. Maybe it is his fault. Very 1985-ish song. Randy: Pitchy, not his favorite. Kara: Gracious, but not a critique. Paula: criticize the performance, not what he brought to season 8!!! UNFAIR! No mention whatever of the performance. It's Gokey "Scream On" 2.0. Simon: I'm not gonna judge that song, I'm gonna judge you. WHAT? I can't wait for this.

Simon, judge the performance, you just judged Kris's performance!!

We've discovered an international star...
...anger...

*vows to vote for four solid hours*

Kris: At least I can hear the lyrics and understand them. I don't know if he had a choice but he shouldn't have sung it this way. Not very good. This song highlights every vocal weakness he's got. Poor guy, not his sort of thing, wish he could have acousticized it or something

Well, at least they aren't judging him on this song, either. Also unfair. But okay with me! heh.

Horrible choice for both of them.

Simon gave him props.

Very anticlimactic show. Could have been great without the Simon Fuller and coronation b.s.

I'm in my happy place. They were both amazing. Well, they were both pretty bad on the coronation song, but the song is like 100 times worse than they were. Yuck. It was really the expected piece of crap from Kara. We went from the "magic rainbow" to the "hurricanes" and "mountains" in "No Boundaries". The song doesn't fit either of them.

Anyway, I loved Adam's "A Change Is Gonna Come" and Kris' "What's Going On". I don't what Simon expected Kris to do with, it's already a pretty laid back song, but with a strong message, and I thought Kris totally made it his own.

I'm glad at least that I'm not feeling the anger that I was feeling last year after the performance show and Simon's knock-out comment for Archie. I guess he learned his lesson.

Anyway, I won't allow myself to be nervous, I prefer Kris, but I love Adam as well, and I can't wait until they do the media rounds together since they couldn't be more adorable.

I'm still in the dark ages and I don't have a cellphone!

Man, that song was bad! I hope Kara is so embarassed right now... she (with the co-writers of course) didn't do any of them any favors.

Those first two songs for both of them were fantastic. Too bad after those they got saddled with Kara's craptastic mess of a song. What the hell was that? speaking of what the hell was that - Carrie Underwood..I don't really need to see you on competition night. Not even for a clip show.

Kris and Adam are both so talented (and they both sang a favourite song of mine really, really well so I have no complaints -- Mad World and Ain't No Sunshine) - bring on the duets with random famous folk and the rest of the gang and let the streamers fly where they may. :)
