I don't know whether this is good or bad or what, but LLWD hasn't made any more dramatic falls in the past couple of days. When you think that last Sunday it was at #40, and now it's #77, I guess that's not good. But in the past couple of days it's only dropped from #72 to #74 to #77. If it would only go up a couple of numbers I would be a happy guy. Anyhow, people are still buying it.
I keep saying to myself: his label could not have wanted it to open big, or they would have given it more publicity and a big push. I really suspect they wanted it to open kind of medium, and were thinking that they'd build it slowly over time, which would be better for him -- better than the usual opening-big-and-then-plummeting thing. Now, whether they thought it would go this low before its big add day, I don't know. I doubt it. But what I'm curious about is, when it is added, what kind of publicity will there be? Do you think there will be any?
I'm also curious about the video. This year, TRL went off the air. This was how people (mainly kids) saw videos. In the US, there's MTV and there's VH1, and that's about it. MTV tried a friday night show called FNMTV, with Pete Wentz, that showcased videos and live acts. It was great, but it didn't come back this season.
So, videos are on YouTube, but that's more or less a case of, if you like the artist, you'll watch. TRL sort of forced you to watch, no matter what. It got kids interested in artists, publicized musicians, gave them a live showcase on TV. I think it made stars, in some cases. All gone, now.
