Definitely not one of the A List movies,but entertaining in a low budget way. Watched this on CMT this AM. What I did find amusing were all the little barbs tossed at us [our fabled niceness,for example] and John Candy,Rhea Perleman,and Alan Alda are always worth viewing. At the end,I noticed that the director was Michael Moore :eek:

Boomer: All I said was "Canadian beer sucks!"
<cue riot scene>

:lol: :lol: :lol:

This was a great movie if you prefer the not so mainstream drivel coming out of Hollywood. Although, I had no idea Moore directed it until a couple of years ago when I picked up the DVD.

It was a silly movie. But a funny movie too. "This beer sucks" was classic, as was when Dan Akroyd made the Americans write all the anti-Canadian slogans in English AND French.

Norfolk County firefighters battled a massive fire that killed 20,000 hogs at a farm just west of Simcoe.

“Smoke was noticed by (farm) staff at about 6:30 this morning,” said Norfolk County Deputy Fire Chief James Robertson. “This is a very large pig operation – the owners tell me it’s one of the biggest in the province. The building is somewhere around four acres in size.”

The Deputy Chief said the entire structure is a total loss, and estimated that at least 20,000 pigs have perished in the blaze. There were no injuries reported to firefighters or farm staff thus far.

“Operations are still ongoing, and this will be a long one for us. We’ve got 14 fire trucks and upwards of 50 firefighters (on scene),” Robertson told The Reformer at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. “It’s not quite under control, but we are getting close to that point.”

Robertson noted that the property owner is insured, and while it’s too early to investigate the cause of the fire, it is not considered to be suspicious in nature. The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified, but Robertson said it’s not yet known if they will attend.

Highway 3 was closed between Charlotteville East Quarter Line and Windham East Quarter Line Road, according to a social media post by Norfolk OPP Const. Andrew Gamble on Tuesday morning.

Norfolk County issued a statement Tuesday indicating that, combined with the current heat and poor air quality conditions, residents may notice reduced visibility and the smell of smoke in the air as a result of the fire. People were urged to take precautions such as keeping doors and windows closed and staying indoors.
