remember kids...it's just an article at the cbc and it was they who chose the respondents and their replies for the little article. no need to get too mad. if you do, try asking all the members of the club here

anyway, basically no one here cares and knows much about iceland in the way someone from zambia cares or knows about us.

a kid abroad is gonna remember as much about their obscure one-off class on canada as I did with latin.

people these days get their 'political' and international studies learnin' thru watching the interwebs, msm newz and the 'popular' social media sites.

still better to be wearin' a maple leaf on a backpack than any other political symbol. ;-)

I read the article.

I agreed with most of it.

The good points were based on obvious parts of our heritage.

The bad points were skewed to recent events.

Geez I read the article. A group of people's opinions about what they think other people's opinions are about Canada.

Doesn't get much more scientific than that eh?

I don't see anyone disputing any of the opinions in the article, or mine for that matter.

I know 'a lady' that vehemently disputes the opinion, I surveyed her an everything... Ergo, the opinions expressed in the OP from the 15 tards is wrong.

Note: She actually used the word 'tard', ergo, those 15 people are in fact mentally handicapped.... Go ahead, prove the statement wrong

You are incapable of discussing a topic without bringing a poster into it.

You are incapable of discussing a topic without bringing a poster into it.
Look, just because you call people names by way of association, doesn't mean you don't personalize your attacks. Which by the way, is very cowardly.

You might think you're all clean and saintly, but you'd be the only one.

Now stop your hypocritical whining and unjimmy your panties, it makes you look like a bigger douche than usual.

I trust the CBC on this one.

They have a pedigree for high journalistic standards.

So basically, the positive things are tropes from long ago and the criticism is for things in recent memory.

Thanks Harper.

You should thank Harper. He is saving us from becoming as broke and lazy as the socialist European countries. Notice that everyone wants to come here because there is opportunity while Europe has bureaucraps and entitlement.

I trust the CBC on this one.

They have a pedigree for high journalistic standards.

It's been reported quite widely by media of all political stripes that the current government does not have a sparkling international reputation.

Our international reputation is improving with the countries that count thanks to Harper. What socialists and terrorists think of us hardly counts.

Stephen Harper's hostile greeting for new Canadians

While Canada Day is usually a time to celebrate the swearing in of new citizens, this year will be the first time that their citizenship will be marked with an asterisk, thanks to Stephen Harper’s passage of Bill C-24.

The new law threatens dual citizens and immigrants to Canada with revocation of their citizenship. Now, citizenship can be revoked by a citizenship officer without a live hearing, without opportunity for appeal, without a judge, and for reasons other than a fraudulent application.

Canadians convicted of terrorism, high treason, treason, or spying may have their citizenship revoked if they are dual citizens. What’s more, they do not have to be convicted in a Canadian court. A foreign conviction will do.

This is a key point. Allowing foreign courts to decide the fates of our citizens is a fundamental forfeiture of our sovereignty, our duty to protect our citizens, and our obligation to grant citizens due process under the law.

A modern judicial process includes gathering evidence, prosecution, trial in front of an independent judge, sentencing in the event of a conviction, and the opportunity for appeal. There are dozens of states around the world that fail to grant both their citizens and ours true justice.
