This is so February 11th, 2022 so just over a month ago. It’s an easy Google search if anyone doubts it happened, and though background news in Canada it was sure heard internationally who where watching this very closely, but thankfully for Justin Trudeau, Russia invaded Ukraine and diverted attention from this.

“You don’t want to end up losing your license, end up with a criminal record, which will impact your job, your livelihood, even your ability to travel internationally, including to the US,” which is no hollow threat to someone who’s livelihood could depend on their ability to cross an international border commercially.

Trudeau then said, without ever meeting with, or having anyone from his Government meet with, anyone from that protest, “We’ve heard you. It’s time go home now.” Nothing to see here! Move along. Look over there!

Watching the news to check weather report . Some environmental group or other protesting in Vancouver , the favourable coverage was enough to make you puke . The just transition back to horse and buggy act .

Roflmfao. The "headline" is false. You work for the MSM?

Sure sounded like a threat at the time, as opposed to actually acknowledging them (them being the protesters & all the hangers on’ers with their multiple & disjointed requests or demands, etc…), but this particular incentive aimed directly at those whose livelihood would be depended on being able to cross the border…

It's stating a fact. If you are involved in criminal activity, are charged, and found guilty it could impact your ability to get into another country. If one is protesting peacefully and legally it's not an issue. What the truckers did was not legal. So, yes, if they were charged and found guilty they could be screwed for crossing the border and that is no ones fault but their own.
For a long time conservative you sure defend the liberals .

It's got nothing to do with the libs and everything to do with the whiny assed truckers pulling a temper tantrum and then not keeping it legal.

75-80 persent of Canadians did not agree with the trucker protest by the time the emergency act was enabled. So that means they were all liberal spitlickle?

Were you getting stats or are you spreading misinformation
Actually, by the time the emergency act was enabled, the %’age GerryH is citing was probably pretty accurate!!

After a month of an active campaigning against this Convoy thing, including the week before they even arrived in Ottawa, by our elected Gov’t and our Gov’t financed media with a sprinkle of reality and shovels full of fiction, I really would’ve been surprised if 75-80% of Canadians where not against this protest. The protesters where painted in the light the government wanted them painted in, and then refused to give them a voice by meeting with anyone.

The campaign was very blatant, and the accusations where flying in a “Trump-like” manner to see what would stick and what would not….and when the goofiest accusations were disproven then they doubled down on the others. It was interesting to watch it happen from the sidelines. If you spread it on thick enough and often enough it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, and the truly racist & misogynistic dickwads will see that as their invitation to come party. Sad really, but that’s how I see that this goat rodeo played out.

As both of you probably agree, this was by no means justification to dig the Emergency Act out’a the toy box, and the whole thing was intentionally escalated when it didn’t have to be, becoming politically expedient in a “Look over here & not over there!” Sort’a thing….so, what were we looking away from when we were looking at the Honk Honk & Bouncey Castles in Ottawa??

Interesting. A group of western separatists have the entire population of BC AB and YT combined in favour of separating? 25% of 37M is 9.25 million people.
