China should have been, should be, isolated economically and contained militarily.

When you say "China," do you mean the government of the people.

I make a distinction. Trade with the people, but not with the government.

Really? So nuclear power with a population 50 times larger than that of North Korea and with an economy to match, would just fade away and cease to be a danger? Somehow I don't think history supports your position.

Not only that, China has been THE greatest superpower on this planet for most of the last six thousand years but if AMERICA ignores it, well .... it just disappears! Typical "We are the World" American viewpoint.
