I'm pretty sure every thinking Canadian has known about the rich using various means to avoid paying certain taxes in Canada. PM Martin and Canada Steamships, we did shit about him shafting the country so why get all moralistic now?? Feels more like a monkey see, monkey do kind of event really. How far back can Canada Revenue go back, 10 years??

That would include every construction worker I work with. Should audit government employees first if for no better reason than to show they are not biased against working people.

The other side of the coin is that if governments were not hell bent on stealing people's hard earned money there would be no need to cheat. Let the 50% that pay no taxes start paying their fair share.

How about every taxpayer have the same tax rights as a corporation and after those deductions you pay the taxes without looking for more shelters that only the rich can use. I kind of like the idea that your tax due is equal to what you have made but haven't spent yet.

I think all this talk about aiming at postal codes is all a load of crap.

Would it not be simpler just to aim the audits at anybody earning a hundred thousand or more a year rather than a postal code showing where the 100 thousand dollar per year earner might live? Why not just audit anybody who earns a 100 grand per year, no matter what their postal code is?

Now that it is all digitally linked it will be everybody that files a return that gets it 'reviewed'. Hopefully if there are any errors it will be over taking too much rather than not enough.
