There's plenty of patriotism in Canada. We're just not as noisy and jingoistic about it as the United States is. The U.S. is so convinced it's the greatest place in the history of civilization that it loses sight of the fact that there are other nations whose citizens are perfectly happy to be something other than American. I can't imagine being an American, I'd choose Australia, New Zealand, England, Scotland, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, even France, before I'd think about becoming American. But I'm Canadian and very pleased to be here, I don't have to think about that. So I don't.

I am not very 'verbal' in my everyday life, I don't like people who bring attention to themselves
by being the loudest in the room, for me that is an immediate turn off.
When the anthem is played I sing without making a sound, (not a very good singer anyways), so
my voice wouldn't be appreciated by very many.
But I can cry almost immediately on many occasions, in situations that would be considered, 'for
my country'. I love Canada, and I don't have to prove that to anyone, especially 'a wanna be
american.'
