Gi-normous jeezeley bambs of your conventional type for the peninsula! Hi, I'm retired USAF General Ben "Squigy" McLellan. You can never have too many bambs. And while nukes are fun to use, they aren't nearly as much fun as countless daze of dropping conventional munitions. I like to call it, "iron rain".

We've got everything from smaller 250 lb JDAMs to tectonically huge super MOABs! Phone me now! Get stocked! 1-888-Git Bamz.

Canada could be called on for troops in event of war with North Korea

Canada may be obligated as part of United Nations Command born of 1953 armistice

Should the tense standoff on the Korean Peninsula escalate into war, the United Nations could come calling on Canada for a military commitment.

But Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan said Friday the Trudeau government would prefer to focus its attention on diplomacy.

There are reports that China has put its air force units along the North Korean border on heightened alert, and South Korea has moved its military to a heightened state of readiness over the possibility that the regime in Pyongyang will conduct another missile test, following a failed attempt last week.

China quickly denied the reports on Friday, but the buildup, which multiple media reports say could also include Russian forces, comes as a U.S. aircraft carrier strike force now moves towards Korean waters.

The rest ici.

That's unlikely to be necessary. A war with North Korea would be over in a few weeks leaving millions of Koreans dead and both states on the Korean peninsula in ruins.

That remains to be seen.

NK has always rattled their sabres when they wanted something. It would be nice if china cracked the whip, but their track record in that regard is non-existent.

NK's sabre rattling is hardly his fault. If you are going to point any fingers, start with the UN.

You understand that North Korea was a problem before Trump even entered the work force, right? Remember the Korean War? 1950-1953.

NK is a problem, but who's sending the navy and drawing a line in the sand?? Trump.

If they quit sending the guy billions of dollars each year, they might be a start?

If they think for one minute the people who need it most are getting these millions of dollars, they have their heads up their asses.

Doesn't matter. Go bury your head in the sand like many others have done, and stop whining.

I'm inclined to say that we (West) should just leave this NK twit keep ratting his sabers.

But if he continues to develop a nuke, I'm not sure if he becomes a real serious threat at that point??

He alleges that he has them now. With nukes, you don't take chances. Satellites and military transmissions will be intercepted and analyzed. The US, Russia and China will be watching.

Taking a leader out with a rifle is a low probability game of opportunity, and it does not stop the trouble. If Kim Jong Il was taken out, there would be someone else to replace him. And he'd still have nukes. You have to cut the head off the snake.

I think the US would have a pretty good idea weather he has nukes or not. I don't think they believe he had them,,,,,yet.

Still not sure how serious a threat he really is???

Both Koreas have the ability to completely destroy each other. It's like its own little pocket cold war where nobody wins and everybody dies. If the war goes hot, do you think they'll play nice?

It's not a cold war, it's still war. Peace was never declared.

Should there ever be anything more than trash talk from NK, it will be up to other nations of the world to squash it before things get out of hand. Arguably, China has the biggest role to play here. They have a lot to lose because of their close proximity to NK and they trade with both nations. That is also most of the reason why they haven't take a sterner stance with NK. But the past 10 or more years has seen their star rise in the west WRT money and trade, so their attitude might shift.

Why do you think Trump spoke so nicely about China? A change is in the wind. It's better for the US to have good relations with China, especially when dealing with NK and even the Russians.

Great chess board. We'll have to see how things play out.

I'm not sure why you keep responding to me off topic in a topic you started.

I'm answering your questions. Not off topic. You moved it that way. Nice try.

You didn't answer my question and it was a rhetorical question anyway. And "nice try" what? What do you think I "tired" to do? The way I see it, we aren't even talking to each other. I'm saying one thing (what would happen if there was a war) and you're talking about another topic (the possibility of there being a war). We don't even have anything we're disagreeing about.

But I did answer you. I said, that it would be up to other nations to stop it before it gets there.

I really don't care if they blow themselves to bits. They are too far away for there to be much fallout.
