Well, before Canada got brass heavy (administration prone), if one developed a malady, one was rushed to hospital, fed decent food, and medically attended to in a reasonable length of time. Unfortunately bureaucrats and pols apparently decided to fix it.

But you may be shuffled around the province before you can arrive at a destination where there is someone to actually do the operation.

As I get older, something I'm getting better at, I see that all my friends are also getting older. My point is, that I now know a lot of people who have had various emergency operations like by-pass surgery, and gall bladders, etc. You know, not one of them had a long wait, or even a short wait. I've read that elective (non threatening) surgery might involve a wait but who's in a hurry to have surgery if it isn't threatening?

Canada has alot of snowbirds... I repeat ALOT of snowbirds... a big chunk of the senior population floods Florida-Texas-Arizona-New Mexico-California for the winter.

In my hometown, which was called a "senior community", about 250-300 people left every winter for the USA.

And bs, their is no patriotism in Canada.. hockey is the only thing somewhat "patriotic" in Canada... kids barely have trouble standing up for "O Canada" in school.

We like our lives, but very few of us have the passion for Canada, as Americans have for their country.

Patriotism is very high in the USA, and very little in Canada.. its a problem.. which gives me an idea for a thread..

The real question for Americans is, "How long will they tolerate this current situation with the Bush administration?" Every time there is significant problems occurring the front man Cheney is trotted out to make a statement on the media. No question and answer period. Just a blunt statement. It is well written, well rehearsed and then the whole bunch disappears from public view. What has to happen now if we expect to see any recalcitrance displayed is to get some valid Recal Bush and Cheney petitions circulated and follow the law to the letter. I think it would smoke them out of their lair. Right now the whole bunch is hiding behind a fact called "Process." And they are buying time for some reason. The future will reveal what it is they are waiting for and I don't think it will be pleasant for anyone in the US. What pParty these politicians belong to any more doesn't matter. What does matter is that the majority of them are in office to serve their own personal needs and not the desires of those who elected them to office. It is now past being pathetic. It is starting to reach the point where we may hear the noise of IED's in DC. Maybe it is time for it!

Most Americans don't seem to know, or don't want to know that their government has made an unprovoked invasion in Iraq and caused the deaths of over a million Iraqi people. Initially, it was called "Operation Iraq Freedom". After about four years and a million dead, is Iraq free yet? It doesn't look like it. How does Bush get away with these things?

Wow the Liberal biast nature of some people here is overwhelming my head.

juan..figures on 1 million dead. Official figures from official organizations too.

And this was not an illegal invasion.

With the information known at the time, we were right to go in their.

They had WMDs and were supporting Al Qauda (911)... that became false, but none-the-less, with the info at the time, that was smart going to Iraq.

I stand by our Republican administration and our war in Iraq.

Ah, but when one has an 8mm kidney stone blocking the path between the kidney and bladder, it is an emergency (kidneys are not meant to act like balloons). Another factor is that I'm in a rural area. Take my word for it, Juan, things are worse than before we had these infernal "Health Authorities".

I would almost think this was grounds for impeachment.

I wish I had a list of all the "unethical" things the Bush administration has done. Only problem is, the list would likely be too long to ever read in my lifetime....

Kind of makes Canadian politicians look like saints...

The longer the Bush administration is allowed to play by the rules they make as they go it won't change a bit. Right now the new focus is tthe Attorney general and his mishandling of running his Department. All of that is just a diversion to occupy the media while whatever the big goal is being pursued quietly. I really feel the agenda is not a good one for any North American country and it is covertly being acted upon as we read each other's comments. The wealthy are becoming enriched beyond belief and the working people are being saddled with a National Debt that will encumber generations to come.
