Well as the saying goes, it is all over but the weeping for both Hamilton and the Eskimos. At least Hamilton decided to come out and play whereas the Esks seemed more than a tad lackluster. All the penalties that the Esks took were stupid and cost them dearly. And what in heavens name was up with Fred Stamps??? Montreal will easily trounce BC and my Riders will get to beat the Stamps (who will definitely be out for revenge) next weekend.
Looking forward to a great game in Mosaic stadium and a one-sided win in Montreal.

did you check 'how' well the lions played montreal during the season, and if
you did, why would you think it will be an automatic trouncing.
all the pressure will be on montreal, 100%

Did anyone watch the Sunday Night game (Pats and Colts)? The Patriots were making mincemeat out of the Colts. Somehow the Colts won.

Nope, I didn't check the stats. Truly, this is just wishful prognostication on my part. Obviously, I am not a fan of the Lions, but do wish your team luck - they will need it.

But then, that's just my opinion. ;-)

2009 Stats for BC / MTL regular season and not including pre-season as they did not have it listed.

Sept 4, 2009 - MTL 12 - BC 19
Sept 13, 2009 - BC 24 - MTL 28

As both games were close and each team won I would suspect Montreal only has the advantage because they are in Montreal and the crowd will be behind them.

The key to Montreal winning is by far to Calvillo staying healthy..

For BC the task is keeping the QBs focused..

It will make an interesting game in my opinion if both teams show up..

Just for the heck of it I decided to check out the 2009 team stats on the CFL website. Thought you might be interested in seeing how BC fared compared to Montreal.

Well heck, tried to attached a couple of PDFs but no joy. Will have to go back to Forum school and find out how to do this. Will repost the PDFs when I learn how.

This was written by a pal of mine, Lloyd McTaggart, who was born in Manitoba but he roots for the Edmonton Eskimos. So when the Esks aren't playing he cheers for the Riders because he knows they are my team. I return him the favor when the Esks play anyone but the Riders or the Ti-Cats. Enjoy.

YOU JUST CAN"T HIDETHAT OL' RIDER PRIDE!

The fans of the Riders were rootin'
And the horns were set up for tootin'
When the Stamps come to town
The crowds won't calm down
'Cause they're ready for all but a shootin'

The teams are both very tight
They'll play with all of their might
Will it be green
Or will it be red
Whatever, it'll be a good fight!

The prairies have fans like no other
The bad guys' huddle they'll smother
With very loud cheers
And perhaps a few jeers
The game will be one noisy mother!

The fans might not be "uptown"
The odd one might look like a clown
But football they know
And they really do show
Fan support with never a frown!

So make sure your pants are on straight
On Sunday you have a big date
The fans do not hide
That great RIDER PRIDE
Oh heck, I just cannot wait!

Good luck on Sunday! ...Lloyd

I was just checking the CFL website and found this:

"B.C. and Montreal split their regular-season meetings this season, with the Lions winning the first game after a late Alouettes touchdown was disallowed. Montreal returned the favour with a last-minute win one week later."
There was a lot of controversy about disallowing that TD. I stick by my prediction about the outcome of the game this weekend. Go Als, Go. ;-)

Post season is always a "new" season with one game takes all..

In any case, if both teams show up it should probably be one of the best games..

I am also a Als fan so this should be fun.. Being in BC makes me a great target..

As the Riders prepare to meet Calgary on Sunday, I too am preparing to cheer for them. My sister, Ginny, was kind of enough to send me one of the now famous 'melon head' helmets. Along with my Rider T-shirt, Rider scraf, and my new head-gear, I will be ready to cheer long and hard for my team. Go Riders!

I sure hope you are right,Francis2004. I can feel my adrenalin level starting to build already ;-)

My loyalty lies with the Riders but I really like the Al's and think Anthony is a wonderful person and a huge asset for the team. Under his steady hand this year, the Al's built up a formidable record of wins and individual team stats. I truly wish them all the best and you can be sure I will be cheering hard for them come Sunday. Go Als..... Go Riders.

There is plain logic that says montreal should win this game, and they probably will,
but, everything that has happened during the season is history now.
All the good that montreal did has past, and all the bad the lions did is past, this is a one game event, and anything can happen.

All pressure is on montreal, they have to win, the lions have no pressure except what they put on themselves as individuals, and if they lose, 'expected', but if
montreal lose 'look out', better take the first bus out of town.

It's happened before to lions when they were that good, and they also have won
the grey cup when they were a losing team, so, until the game is played, nothing
is settled.

GO LIONS GO

I really admire you, talloola, truly. I have a lot of respect for fans that keep sticking up for their team, and you sure do. Good on you.

I agree with you, this is one game and anything can and has happened in the past. You are also correct about the Lions having pulled the win off before when all odds were against them.

I differ with you about what has gone before only in this; while BC stumbled their way to the play-offs, Montreal has made steady progress towards them, losing sight of their goal a mere three times in the regular season. They continued to build their confidence as they met and defeated, team after team. They cohered, becoming a tight-knit team which operates as if a single unit. When I watch a Montreal game, I know I am watching excellence.

For your sake, I do hope the Lions manage to pull of another fast one, talloola. A fan as dedicated as you deserves to see their team come through.

But then, that's just my opinion. ;-)

I don't think it's so much that I'm a loyal fan, it's just logic, and I also forgot
to mention that montreal doesn't have any momentum going for them at
present, haven't played enough lately, that could be a good thing, or could be
a bad thing, just like the canucks tonight, playing avalanche, after being off
for a number of days, and avalanche has been playing lots, we'll see how that
goes too, I know the hockey players hate long layoffs, just like ray ferraro said, when
you step back on the ice to play a game, everything seems too fast for awhile,
as practicing, just doesn't get it done.
I don't think Lions will win, they shouldn't win, but history sees a different
scenario when teams come into a playoff game, expecting to win, should win,
as expectations can backfire on you.
I don't dislike the montreal team, or wish bad things for them, it's just that
one can't know they will win, till they win.
I just get a kick out of all the montreal fans who say that lions will get trashed
and get their butts kicked and whatever else they say, it's all just wishfull
thinking on their part, because all of them have a little scared feeling inside,
that montreal might not get it done.
I don't have that kind of emotion, I see things more quietly and logically, and
if lions were the favourite, I wouldn't say trashy things about montreal, as I know it can come back and smack you in the face.

Hope it's a really good game.

Ron, is that you with the Ottawa Rough Riders shirt on in the stands..:lol:

Seriously tough.. News yesterday ( I think ) that Ottawa might just have funding in place for a new stadium again paving the way for a team again..

Francis2004, that is excellent news and I do hope that it comes to pass. We really need another team in the East. Have you heard anything more about the possible sale of the Argos?

talloola, talloola.... I mean no harm when I 'trash' other teams. I see it as simple fan rivalry. I am sorry if I offended you in any way. No harm done????

For myself, it is not fear, it is worry. I don't get scared over football no matter how much I love it. At that, I don't start to worry until my team is down in points, it is the last quarter of the game, and there are only seconds left on the clock. Then, I start to worry, you bet. Up until that time however, I have nothing but faith. I believe my team will win and no one can change my mind. I simply believe. Yes, at times my belief is unfounded but that has never stopped me from keeping on. For me, the win is so much sweeter when I know that I was with my team all the way.

You have not offended me at all, this isn't about me, it's about the possibilities
of this up and coming football game. I will be cheering for lions as you will be
cheering for your team, getting excited, just like all fans. My comments are
aimed at any fans who automatically think lions haven't got a chance.
I will be surprised if lions win the game, but they have a chance to do so.
If they lose I will be happy that they have gained back a good quarter back,
in casey printers, and will know that next season they will have a good
training camp, and hopefully buck pierce will not be on the team, I have
not liked his style at all, and find it painfull to watch him play.

If The Lions started the year with Printers having a training camp, they would be playing at BC Place this Sunday. They almost beat the Riders in Sask with him full of rust late in the season.

Yes, Montreal should win. It is possible that Printers has the flu (or a cold) and if so that won't help BC. But if he's feeling good, Calvillo better score a ton of points because Casey and his receivers will make mincemeat out of Al's mediocre pass defense.
