For long time now, friends and family have been urging me to try an autobiography, and now that I have all this time on my hands,I'm thinking of giving it a go. What I need ,and would deeply appreciate would be a point in the right direction in regards to publishing, and the rules ,like using peoples names.
It would be a shame to deprive the world of this humorous tale,HST would be proud.

There are legalities involved but I think initially a written request can be made before going to the trouble of including a character who would insist on being removed.

So, perhaps personal request - showing the eventual content of the name and person's role in the book - and if published, the publishing company would probably have legal release forms to be completed.

It may not be necessary if all your characters were fictional or copies of real people with no identification whatsoever other than what the role in the book demands....unless their fame was necessary to the book.

You could always chenge the names to protect the guilty. If descriptors are good, they will know who they are in any case.
In my own novel I have used a mixture of "real" first names and fictional second names. What ever you decide, best of luck with your project.
