Yes..yes. Just ask any of those people who were guests of the Islamic Republic for 400+ days back during Carter's presidency.

They will attest to the Iranian hospitality.

Oh the ones who were paraded blindfolded in public, spat on, kept bound, blindfolded, beaten. The ones brought to mock executions? Those people?

For God's sake guys. The topic opener was rather clever satire. Nobody was insulted. On the other hand, it sounds like the British military people were treated pretty well considering they were caught spying on the Iranians.

Juan's post made me think. Imagine this:

An Iranian battleship floats just outside the USA's waters, and a small craft is even nearer. Some reports say it had crossed the border, even. The boat was captured and the occupants arrested.

Would we be talking in the same manner in this situation?

Nope. Bush and the INS or whatever immigration clown-fest in charge that week would let them all stay, put them up in free housing, and just for good measure, would imprison whoever took the Iranians into custody.

Sorry Herm.

I just think that one of the first casualties in any war is the truth(to coin a cli-shay) I have read that eight of the fifteen who were captured, were among those captured the first time around.

In the hypothetical situation you mention above, would the captives be out in two weeks? Would the warship have survived? I don't know.

I do not think it was rather clever satire at all.It must depend on one's opinion of America . Maybe it is time the states withdrew all thier troops and aid from the rest of the world for a few months to highlight thier contribution to world peace and stability. Then the american-bashers would have something tangible to bleat about. Also,Sanctus your earlier insult was very unchristian, but I forgive you.
