CSI loves stainless steel because it is great for showing finger and palm prints. My wife wants to get a Miele dishwasher because it is quiet and it doesn't have a drying cycle. Who uses a drying cycle in a dishwasher?

lol... yeah, what we have right now is a stainless steel fridge and black stove and dishwasher, and I will never ever again get either. They are constantly needing to be polished, it drives me insane, especially with kids in the house. Ugh. Good old white when the kitchen gets remodeled. As for the drying cycle... it's a royal waste of energy. Ridiculous really.

I always use the drying cycle, as, I only use the dishwasher once a day, right before bed, and in the morning when I open it, if I haven't used the drying cycle, the dishes are not completely dry, some are, some are not,
and I also believe it is more sanitary when they get completely dried quickly, I put all
of my dishes away while my breakfast is cooking, so I don't want to wipe them as well,
just out of the dishwasher and into the cupboard.
Yeah, it is a waste of energy, but I will do it anyway.

I never really thought of it that way. I run mine so that when it finishes, I crack the door, and the heat plus open air dries them right away. But, if I were going to bed and not cracking the door, well, it's not really a waste then... kind of necessary.

I don't think the "brushed stainless" is as bad as the earlier, almost mirror like finishes. The stainless stove we have bought, has a fair amount of shiny black surface to attract fingerprints but I think they are all like that.

The only thing I can say about the drying cycle is that I would rather not have to wipe the dishes. I know that if you crack open the door when the dishwasher is finished, the residual heat from the dishwashing will likely, mostly dry the dishes.in fifteen or twenty minutes. In our house the dishwasher is a place to keep dishes when you're not using them...

yeah, I thought they'd be okay too. But, no. They smudge and mark up like MAD. Every drop of water shows, every place you touch them it shows. If you don't use just the right thing to clean them, then the cleaner shows. It drives me mad.

You're probably right but stainless surfaces are not nearly as bad as black for collecting prints. On the drying cycle; it is a sanitary thing your dishwasher does that probably should be used. That doesn't mean I will use it every time, but I probably should....;-).

Just an update, as have browsed around Home Depot, and they have a large LG two door frig, with freezer at the bottom, stainless steel, $5500.00 and it is beautiful, but not very large drawer, but very large price.
The one I like is not a deluxe one at all, and is a 'side by side,' which I have criticized, but this one is great, 25.something cubic ft.,frig side is larger than freezer side, and very nice inside.'a general electric, and white, so
perhaps it comes in a more deluxe model, this one is under $2000.00.
Even if they have one that is the same size but more deluxe for 3500.00, it would be a much better buy than the LG. In my opinion. Just adding to your confusion, or not.

you can't really price compare a stainless steel and a white though talloola.

I'm not comparing white to stainless steel. I mentioned that, if one could get the GE in
a more deluxe model, (which could be stainless steel), I would choose it over the LG,
and I'm sure the GE wouldn't be 5500.00, even in stainless steel.
First time I've ever liked a side by side, large frig side, and decent freezer as well, and of
course Juan has a freezer as well, so you don't need large frig freezer anyway.

We just took delivery of the new stove and dishwasher this morning. Both are stainless and both are beautiful......And both are installed. The fridge/freezer will arrive sometime next week. My wife is already baking a couple pans of muffins.

I like the automatic temperature/time switch over from conventional to convection. I'm gonna have to read the manual.

We expect pictures from all angles when you're finished.

That shouldn't be a problem. The trickiest part was re-drawing the new countertop on one side so it would take the larger fridge. When that is delivered we'll know if our guestimate was right. We have a little room to play with so we should be alright.

I bought a stove top coffee percolator and the coffee came out bitter. Usually the brands I buy are very smooth and they never get bitter when I use electric percolators.

Well, next time I will boil the water and add the coffee afterwards so that the coffee grains get less exposure to steam. Hopefully, it will come out smoother next time.

I've never really learned how to make really good coffee, sometimes it is very good,
but most of the time it isn't, and I have never learned why, as it seems I do the same thing most of the time, I grew up in a 'tea' house, my parents never drank coffee.
Any good coffee recipes out there?
