Okay, so I totally lied when I said I wouldn't post anymore cartoons after the election. With Ted Rall drawing the damn things, I can't help it:

On another note, I have found the perfect music for the US at this time: Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D minor. Grim stuff. Perfectly suited because, have you read the news today, oh boy.

RE: Bush

I just felt sad when I saw the front page of the Global & Mail, "Bush wins (definately)" yesterday :( I already know it's true, but I don't need it drilled into my head... I hope I dont have to see him anymore plastered all over the paper boxes on the street... He's at perfect foot level without pulling anything, though

RE: Bush

He's gointo be in the headlines a lot over the next little while, Andem. He's going to attack the world and the world is going to fight back. After that there will be the impeachment process, then his criminal trial.

RE: Bush

I haven't felt this bad since my dog died :( . Maybe I feel guilty for not being to stop the deaths of millions of people. Another mass murderer has been unleashed upon the world. Another Stalin, another Hitler. It's over for my country. All I want to say is that I'm sorry I couldn't stop it. I'm sorry I couldn't knock some sense into those people. We'll never, ever be forgiven for this.

This might be out of bad taste, but the Germans seem to be able to live with what happened in WWII.. but the Soviets aren't even really aware of what happened -- which is what the US government is upto.. It's not your fault for not being able to prevent what has happened in the past 3 years by your country or by your government.

Your best bet is to get more involved in the politics of your country and make your voice heard. You are only 19, but get out there soon!

RE: Bush

Yea, but there's a large resistance in this country, it's just not large enough too counter a media that makes them DISAPPEAR. Read our news, and the American left hardly even exists. Except sometimes as "That pesky little opposition party". We are a one party system now. America in WWII fought countries like America in 2004, how insane is that? Yes my voice should be heard, I voiced myself on november 2; BUT MY VOICE WASN'T counted. It wasn't in Montana because of our electoral college system, voices like mine in Ohio weren't counted because of DIEBOLD MACHINES. This was a banana-Republican style rigged election, and that's hard to get over but I'm trying.

RE: Bush

Apollo, a defeatist attitude will do nothing for you or your country, you already know this is true.

Here is a thought from the New York Times. Wise words indeed, ones worth heeding:

I have been struck by the extraordinary demoralization, even dark despair, among a lot of voters who desperately wanted John Kerry to defeat Mr. Bush. "We did all we could," one woman told me, "and we still lost."

Here's my advice: You had a couple of days to indulge your depression - now, get over it. The election's been lost but there's still a country to save, and with the current leadership that won't be easy. Crucial matters that have been taken for granted too long - like the Supreme Court and Social Security - are at risk. Caving in to depression and a sense of helplessness should not be an option when the country is speeding toward an abyss.

Roll up your sleeves and do what you can. Talk to your neighbors. Call or write your elected officials. Volunteer to help in political campaigns. Circulate petitions. Attend meetings. Protest. Run for office. Support good candidates who are running for office. Register people to vote. Reach out to the young and the apathetic. Raise money. Stay informed. And vote, vote, vote - every chance you get.

Democracy is a breeze during good times. It's when the storms are raging that citizenship is put to the test. And there's a hell of a wind blowing right now.

It's tough, but you are well-armed with passion, conviction and a good understanding of the situation. I really do feel better knowing there are people like you in the formula.

RE: Bush

Ah, I remember when young girls used to give me permissions...

Here's a few quotes I dug up, Apollo. Keep them in mind over the next while. I think they might come in handy when dealing the Bushites over the next bit.

"The United States is in no sense founded upon the Christian doctrine." -- George Washington

"It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no god. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg."
--Thomas Jefferson

"I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of. My mind is my own church." -- Thomas Paine

"I do not find in orthodox Christianity one redeeming feature."
-- Thomas Jefferson

"The Bible is not my book, and Christianity is not my religion. I could never give assent to the long, complicated statements of Christian dogma." --Abraham Lincoln

RE: Bush

The thing is not to change their minds, they are entitled to believe what they want, but to undermine their attempts to make their religious dogma the sole driving force behind your government.

Okay, I have to ask: Who is going to impeach him? Both the House and the Senate are heavily Republican. I don't think it will happen, much as I'd like it to.
