Owners of second properties could face thousands of dollars in new taxes every year under the Ontario NDP plan to target housing “speculators” throughout the Golden Horseshoe.
(So the LIE-berals have happily destroyed the last, best, financial investment available to ordinary people and that would be housing- any person hoping to sell off and retire some place smaller and cheaper in the near future is screwed under LIE-beral housing policy- sales have dropped dramatically and prices have fallen significantly- meaning old folks have had their retirement prospects crippled! And now the NDP wants to go a step further and makes sure there will be crippling costs for anybody hoping to pass on a family cottage as well! And to think that NDPers had just won over ETFO- elementary teachers to their side with offers of extra gravy- and now the gravy turns sour for ETFO cottage owners!)
Once fully implemented, the tax on an applicable house assessed at $735,021 – the average selling price of a residential property in Toronto in 2017 – would be $14,700 annually.
The NDP are anticipating this new tax combined with the existing Non-Resident Speculation Tax (NRST), which would stay in place, will bring in a whopping $671 million in its first full year and every year after that for the life of a first term of government.
(I say there is nothing wrong with a non resident tax since media such as CBC have been telling us since the 1970`s that organized crime is heavily involved in money laundering and house flipping! With the added bonus that some foreigners use Canada as a handy base for international skullduggery- without the bother of paying income tax on their activities! We are informed the Revenue Canada concentrates on local investigations that cost less and can be swiftly concluded! But Rev Can IGNORES foreign mischief as it costs a LOT to investigate- taking agents to foreign countries and ect- and it is usually a SLOW investigation since multiple jurisdictions are involved etc! So Rev Can picks on Cdns and ignores the foreign cheats in our midst! In addition the Paradise Papers have exposed the machinations of Cdn born “investors” seeking high profits and LOW taxes- which Revenue Canada also has no time to investigate- since such investigation would annoy rich and powerful LIE-beral pals!)
The NDP’s election platform, Change for the Better, pitches this new tax as a way to make housing more affordable to Ontarians.
(This is diplomatic language meaning that NDPers have offered more gravy to ETFO Hogs than LIE-berals did and the money has to come from some place- but NDP logic is so twisted they are robbing Peter to PAY PETER! It is the standard LIE-beral/ NDP nonsense- higher pay as bait and higher taxes to pay for the bait!)
“Housing speculation and flipping are driving up housing prices,” the platform says. “We will implement a new speculation tax that will not be limited to foreign buyers … It will be targeted toward foreign and domestic speculators who do not pay tax in Ontario.”
Currently, Ontario only charges foreign buyers with a one-time 15% speculation tax (NRST) based on the value of the property.
The NDP plan would keep that tax, but add a second annual speculation tax that applies to both foreign and domestic property owners.
The NDP speculation tax is based on the B.C. model, currently the subject of a class-action lawsuit by out-of-province homeowners.
(Both LIE-berals and their less intelligent NDP cousins have promised to create lots of new jobs- but REALLY- DO ALL THE JOBS HAVE TO BE FOR STINKING LAWYERS? Foreign home owners in BC are suing the govt. Union Hogs in Ontari-owe are suing the provincial govt because LIE-berals prevented them from running attack ads in support of NDP in the current election. Other union Hogs are suing govt because LIE-berals forced a contract on college and university support staff. BC LIE-beral provincial govt is suing federal LIE-berals over Kinder Morgan pipeline. NDP Alberta govt is threatening to cut off oil supplies to BC unless Kinder Morgan goes through and BC LIE-berals threaten a lawsuit IF Alberta NDP does cut off the oil! Kinder Morgan has withdrawn its threatened lawsuit over the LIE-beral refusal to do anything useful about the BC protestors who are currently halting pipeline production- with LIE-berals throwing loads of cash at Kinder Morgan- with NO strings attached just to get them to shut up and put away their lawyers for a while!)
(At what point in all this crap will we be forced to admit that ALL NDP policy is following LIE-beral policy down the drain like turds in a flushed TOILET? The greatest miracle here is that our political system has not clogged up completely due to this vast flow of political CRAP! And to make all this oil crap even more pungent and politically stinky- LIE-berals have told us that they want to use their carbon crap and trade tax to drive up the price of fossil fuel so high we will stop using it- at the same time that they SWEAR that completing Kinder Morgan is a project of national importance- and NDPers have shouted “ME TOO” to all this LIE-beral political verbal sewage- and then thrown their own fresh crap into the national political toilet!)
B.C. had to ratchet back the scope of its speculation tax after it hit its own residents particularly hard, including those with vacation properties.
(Oh- too many locals hit with a speculation tax? That would correspond to ETFO and other civil service union Hogs here in Ontari-owe- who so often own those nice Muskoka cottages- the very people that LIE-berals and NDP are COMPETING to throw gravy at in hope of buying their support- and who they also hope to loot and pillage with their speculation tax! Those political turds must be getting DIZZY by now?)
Ontario NDPers say they would work to ensure their version of the tax does not apply to family cottages, and that it doesn’t negatively impact rental stock.
(Oh- more dizzy political turds! In spring 2018, Wynne-bag LIE-berals extended their rent controls to properties built after 1991- and in a matter of days- several thousand condos- most not even completed- were taken OFF the rental market! LIE-berals and their less intelligent NDP cousins have already PROVEN they could not run a chip truck at a profit- not even if you gave them the potatoes for free! As proof- just ask the typical Cdn Hog what they think of the Phoenix Pay System! Or ask how long it will take for E-health to actually create a computerized health record system- now that LIE-berals have become so embarrassed at the constantly blown budgets that LIE-berals now just ship BLANK CHEQUES- NO BUDGETS TO BLOW NOW- money for virtually nothing till Hogs RETIRE! Or we could look at the TTC Presto computerized fare system that critics sneered at as the most costly and least reliable of several available systems on the market- yet Presto was chosen and swiftly turned into an embarrassment! Or we could talk about the LIE-beral contract for installing fast electric car chargers- with the installations WAY BEHIND schedule and the chargers that were installed being very often broken or refusing to deliver anything other than an undesirable SLOW charge!)
(And now NDPers want to assure us they CAN build a fair, honest and logical tax system even as they sell their souls and gravy to union Hogs in exchange for votes?)

Let the rental relatives- or AirBnB visitors live cheap for a few days and then thumb your nose at NDP occupancy CRAP- while rented relatives move on to other locations!)
(Hog tax collectors have already proven they cannot keep track of foreign born income tax cheats, cannot keep track of organized crime goofs laundering money with “renovation” scams and cannot even keep track of how much money is laundered at Cdn casinos! How can they keep track of this new house tax crap?)
Like the B.C. tax proposal, the Ontario NDP plan to begin with an annual speculation tax of $5 per $1,000 of assessed value, rising to $20 per $1,000 of assessed value.
But in B.C., the government was forced to maintain the lower tax level for provincial residents indefinitely after it became known that two-thirds of those paying the speculation tax lived in B.C.
(As I said- loonie leftists ain’t smart enough to sort out this crap!)
The B.C. government expects to bring in $487 million over three years through this tax, roughly the same amount that the Ontario NDP plans to bring in every year.
(And BC house prices are bouncing back very nicely now that the sneaks and scammers have adjusted thank you!)
The NRST only took in $173.8 million between April 21, 2017 and Feb. 16, 2018.
The new NDP speculation tax would apply everywhere the NRST does – Toronto, Barrie, Brant, Brandford, County of Dufferin, Durham Region, Guelph, Haldimand County, Halton, Hamilton, City of Kawartha Lakes, Niagara, Northumberland, Orillia, Peel Region, Peterborough and region, County of Simcoe, Waterloo, County of Wellington, and York Region.
(WE can only hope this nasty load of loonie leftist political turds gets thoroughly flushed on June 7- if this load backs up the situation will be NASTY!)
