Marmite is one of Britain's few good foods.

I don't buy it regularly, but do on occasion for a change. I like to spread it on toast among other uses.

It sure as hell beats fish and chips (except the chips part, which I like to eat with either ketchup or hummus usually, and sometimes another condiment).

There, I think I might have covered all of the British food worth eating.

Now on to India. Maybe Brexit combined with free trade with India will turn out to be a Godsend for the British palate.

Now wonder the British colonized so many lands. They were sick and tired if what they had and were looking for something good to eat.

It seems to me that it has a common ancestor with Bovril.

Bovril is a hot drink. It's nothing like something that you spread on toast.

Bovril is the traditional beefy - or chickeny - hot drink drunk by British football fans when watching the match on a cold winter's day or night.

... spotted dick ...faggots ... toad-in-the-hole ... jam roly-poly ...treacle tart ...

Yeah. They're all included in the list.

Treacle is popular at this time of year. It's traditionally eaten on Guy Fawkes Night. Especially treacle toffeee.

Treacle toffee, black peas in vinegar and beer are the traditional food and beverages that are gorged and imbibed whilst watching the fireworks display and the effigy of Guy Fawkes being burnt on top of the big bonfire.
