British Columbian citizen, now living in Québec city! help?

I'd lived in Montreal and visited Quebec city a number of times. One day in Quebec city I was curious and so pretended not to know French. First off, I was shocked at the lack of English knowledge on the part of the general population. That said, most did make a great effort to help me when I'd asked for directions for example.
In Montreal, the vast majority seem to know both languages at least to a decent degree, but then some of them on both sides had a real attitude if you dared speak to them in the wrong language. From my observations though, at least in the part of town I lived in, French was a little more dominant, English-speakers were more likely to know French than vice versa, and seemed to be more accepting of French. But then again, that was in that particular part of town. I'm sure in the more English-speaking parts of town it would likely have been the reverse.

Nice to meet all of you!, Québec city is a beautiful very very beautiful place to live, but there arent many english speaking people though hehehehe, I know I know I can handle myself in french, not as good I hoped but I can handle myself, directions to bathroom, merci et beaucoup hahahaha jkz.
we'll I would like to have some english speaking friends so I can feel a little less out of place hehehe

Clark, I was 18 when I arrived in Canada, not knowing either English or French.
There was no internet forums then for me to go to and look for sympathy. And to be quite frank with you, even if here had been any I would have been strong enough to make it on my own, rather than crying on the shoulders of strangers.
Compared to what I had to go through, you can count your blessings.
