Board Spammers

The personalities of the members are the very lifeblood of any board. Each one - from the best-loved to the most irritating - is unique, and not easily replaced.

Well, here's how I figger it ... there's been some differences here at the forum on a personal level. We can all either pick a side, paint our faces blue, wear kilts and moon one another ... or ... we can just shrug it off and move forward.

There's certainly no reason people can't belong to more than one forum. I belong to half a dozen myself. The recent problems around here have been the result of issues between individuals. It's caused some shifts and shuffling, but there is really no reason for anyone to get their tail in a twist.

A little patience on the part of the forum members, a little tolerance and maybe a valium or two for those of us who have got their fur up a bit and all will be back to what passes for normal around this joint in no time!

At least that's my thought on it all.

If I may, I would like to speak as someone who has been previously banned from this forum, and is now back, the reasons for which I don't really understand, but am happy to be back, irregardless of why.

In my opinion, and I stand to be corrected, I was banned because my right wing opinions differed greatly with some, shall we say, more left leaning members, of this forum. That was too bad, but I moved on to another forum where, IMO, differing opinions were dealt with differently, without being banned. I have kept in touch with this forum by being able to read, but not post, so I was able to keep up with some of what was happening. This past week, I learned that changes had been made to this forum and some of the more extreme left wing members were not longer posting here, for whatever reasons which I do not know to this day, and quite frankly, don't want to know. All I know now is that I am able to once again participate in this forum, for which I am appreciative, and it appears that differing opinion on this forum will now be treated differently, instead of being banned for having a different view. For that, Andem, and all the mods, thank you, and I once again look forward to "sparring" with my left leaning friends on this forum. I make no apologies that I am on the right of the political spectrum, and am an ardent Liberal opponent. However, I can and do listen to opposing opinions, and as long as my opinions are treated with a certain degree of respect, I will reciprocate in kind. Thanks again, and it is nice to be back!

Let me just say that I dont mind people sharing URLs with each other, especially via PM or any other method. I'm not against people doing that at all.

What gets me going is when a member SPAMs users with URLs to another board or any other site for that matter. What I mean by SPAM is PMing or email people en-mass. It's not like PMing one or two members, it's PMing and emailing 10 or 20 or even more. The admin of the other board has actually been back in the past day spamming people and it's been reported to me. Thats shady and unethical. I would never goto another board and PM 20 people, whether I knew them or not, to join another site. Bottom line.

Although I've disagreed with some of the more liberal
members, I saw many of them to be intelligent and
three dimensional beyond their political points of view.

I think the uncluttered design of this board,
its activity and its personalities are quite unique
and much better than most boards literally around
the world.

Anyway, I've been banned before like some other
contributors who've been allowed back, and we
are just guests in their house and so I really don't
want to ruin a nice thing they created and so I just
gotta limit myself to much lesser quantity of posts.

I thought since people are following both boards now, I'd post the following, of which I was banned immediately and was deleted:

No Chris, it was Cosmo that said you wanted the Rev banned and you were looking for a reason to do it. She said she did not have the heart to do it since she was made new admin. She said she was sticking up for the Rev, aparently not. You wanted the board to be more diverse. apparently you thought more people would sign up if the Rev was gone. And apparently it is becoming that, a far right lovefest, like so many other boards have become.

I was asked if I would take over chair position and I said maybe, but I was not happy with what you and cosmo had planned and that the board of directors was really just a redundant thing. She said you could remove board members even though they were elected by the members. I was trying to get her to compromise by letting Rev stay on the Board of Directors, he was elected and should stay on, I stressed that to Cosmo on more than one occasion. I also said it would be a loss to the board if the rev was banned. I never thought you guys were serious about actually banning him, But now 4 of the top 10 posters no longer post at your site.

Where do you get off saying many members were spammed via pm? How many? 1, 100 all members? Gee I never knew you and your fellow administrator were going to be such whiners about this site. Please supply names.

Yes I have been accused of being sneaky but hell board has only been up 3 days now, and why should I need your permission to associate with posters that are not welcome at your site?

That's twisting words. The rev was due to be banned for constantly spamming the Report feature and harassing mods. He was eventually also banned for spamming members to join this site.

Of course, if somebody is banned for breaking the board rules, they would have to be replaced. Again, twisting words that I actually never said.

Man I still don't follow completely all of that.

I wish Reverend Blair would be back.
Despite disagreement with him on some
matters, I find him to be
quite knowlegeable and aware and passionate
and quite capable of bringing something new to
the table no one thought of before.

In fact I think sometimes real fairness involves
treating people differently because of our different
needs and makeup.

One size fits all never really works, and so we all
oughta grow up and understand some members should
get some preferential treatment and we guests are
in their house and possibly to look at it that way without
losing your own principles.

Some people are more sensitive and some are
just harder people and we just need to respect
each others' needs and learn to apologize sincerely
or back off a little out of courtesy or be able
to go at each other if both can take it.

I know it's easier to govern with the one-size-fits-all
rule, but we all ought to consider the idea that
to treat everybody fairly is to treat them differently.

Just an idea.

I hope this board resolves these issues and I'm
willing to abide by whatever the board decides.

And by the way, thanks Ocean Breeze.

We've tag teamed each other quite a bit and no
stupid political disagreement should come between.

We all have to learn to have cooler heads and
when we don't, maybe we could just stop and listen
and alternate between passion, sincerity and courtesy.

I keep having to learn this, but hope we all can
understand each other's passion of the moment.


I've been banned before and I thought it was unfair,
but I got over it by thinking I'm a guest here
and whether the host is right or wrong, we guests
should defer to them and sometimes even if we are
wrongly treated, sometimes just backing off a little
gives yourself time to cool down.

Pesonally, I am looking forward to this site again, without the negative and personal attacks that the Rev and Pea used to rain down on anyone who disagreed with them. The only reason I got banned was because I disagreed with the Rev, and was warned by Pea to go easy on the Rev, or I would be banned again. When I continued to disagree, bang, banned.

That, my friends, is not a fair way to treat anyone.

Thank you for your comments. I have read their responses and it seems that my diplomacy has been in vain. More mudslinging and just ugly words being thrown by the other side. Let reputations and people's histories speak for themselves and decide for yourself what is fact and what is false (taking into consideration that I was banned for posting a rebuttal with facts to no1important).

I'm locking this topic now.
