So... we have a do not call registry, and the US has a do not call registry, but, I have a new issue...

How on earth do I block American telelmarketers from calling my number!? And surely, if they're doing it to us, we're doing it to them, right? We must have robots from Ontario calling and aggrevating them too. lol.

I got an idea from the latest herd of spammers here: I've only had one chance to actually put my plan into effect, but what it boils down to is telling telemarketers that I will ffill their company's email, their company's directors' emails, etc. with loads of spam unless they stop calling. :D And I don't mean nice spam like "my company "X" produces the best blah. I mean spam for Viagra, sex toy, adult dating, penis enlargement, etc.

One day I questioned a person calling (on my call display) from California. The person I was speaking to did not even know they were calling from California and denied it. I think nearly the world knows about call display so I think she truly didn't know her call was being routed through the USA. You could even be getting a call from some other country that shows either Canada or the USA. They can't speak English very well so that's your first clue. Try asking what country they live in because they are not expecting the question. It's not helping you to stop the calls and neither does that email that says push the ### buttton repeatedly to confuse the auto-dial feature from these companies. I do not answer any 1-800 type calls and I have my phone set on only 4 rings before it goes to voice mail. They don't leave messages.

In the absence of international agreements, that's about all you can do. My phone has different ring tones for local and long distance calls and I often just ignore the latter without looking at the call display. If it's legitimate, there'll be a message. There's a very small number of people who could legitimately be calling me long distance, and I just don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.

Ironically, American Telemarkers most likely got your current ph# & such from
the Canadian "Do Not Call" list...which was (& still might be, I'm not sure) for
sale for a small fee. ;-) I think it was something like $150 and a Telemarketer
could get the list of everyone on the "Do Not Call" list from the Canadian
Government. Whoops....:lol::lol::lol:

What is happening is Canadian telemarketers are having their calls directed through the US. Looks like their American but is really a well orchestrated Canadian gimmick.
