Most expression don't rely on belief. bp relies on some belief in a book written by religiously superstitious people that is disproven by science.

I bet the same people who use bp now shun using the word mecca to mean popular place. Mecca seems to have left the language for fear of offending Muslims. But biblical is one of "our" words that foreigners can't have.

I use both. I wouldn't offended to hear a 'foreigner' say biblical proportions. Methinks you make mountains out of mole hills.

Semantics. Hmm. Hey all you chicks and girlies out there, tell me words don't matter. Corporatespeak no longer allows such kind of language in consulting reports.

bp may be more acceptable because Canada is getting more 3rd world immigrants and this means more religious people/fanatics and religious language to them is no problem. People who have minds in the 12th century or so. Think burka.
