I agree, but if Lebanon wants to be able to get out from under the thumb of Syria and Iran, the supporters and financiers of Hezbollah, it has little choice but to take their country back by force. Independence has never been won through inaction. Lebanon will need help from other nations and initially a large part may be military support. It may be time for The EU to stop its usual yapping and step forward.
I do a lot of reading about the Middle East everytime a crisis breaks out. There is precedence for this, PLO was based in Jordan for a while and they essentially tried to execute a Coup. Assasination attempt on the King etc.
Jordan had enough and went to war to expell the PLO. Fighting (google "black september") killed 5000 in 10 days.
But since then Jordan has been peacefull. The PLO went on to cause trouble in Lebanon, including the massacre at Damour.
These militants do the most harm to the country they reside in. It would be interesting to see Syrias reaction if Hezbollah was expelled and started moving into Syria. Fine and dandy to support them while they ruin Lebanon, but they don't actually want them launch attacks from Syrian territory.
I suspect the Syrian/Iranian puppet master will have Hezbollah quit all attacks if there is any sign that they might be expelled. They don't care about damage to Lebanon, but they do care that they don't get stuck housing the monster they created.
