I'm talking in my career, not some casual internet browsing all day when you should be outside getting some exercise or spending time with your family.
My kids are at school, my wife's at work. And I'm fishing for catfish these days, which means night fishing. And despite all that, I still have a nice dark tan. Go figure.

So how is the net out of control again?

because there is no security that watches it.

First off, that statement shows that you don't know very much about the internet. Maybe you need a new career.

Your second claim basically states that because parents don't care what their kids do on line, we should regulate the internet. Perhaps that's a wrong-headed approach to a non-problem.

i'm talking about Internet companies, with programs that record activity

Oh, so we can have private companies doing the dirty work of the government. What right does the government have to record our lawful activity in the first place? The government should just assume that we are all guilty of something and forgo our rights?

That's the whole point of it, a free exchange of ideas and information. Non?

Parents obviously don't watch their children (many don't) when they are on the computer..
I agree that many parents don't, which is why I curtail the access to a severe degree, to my boys, including my 17 year old.

Not because there's no security, but because there is info he just isn't old enough, by MY standards, to view. That is my age restricted censorship, because of how I raise my boys. It certainly does not pertain to other children and my standards are certainly not everyone elses.

So in other words, the internet really isn't out of control, it just isn't censored the way you would like it?

yeah I guess that's likely the case.

a lot of parents tend to blame others for the issues with Internet censorship, yet they don't say "If I did a better job of watching what my kids looked at on the internet.."

no, it's like how they observe the Phone lines for certain key words.. like President, assassination, kill, drugs, bomb.. terrorist.. etc.

And how does this software determine the context of such words? I could easily type those words on any given day in the context of a video game, Call of Duty for example. Then you also have a problem if the traffic is encrypted.

sure, but don't you think they'd have software that could easily break that?
