Iran leader in landmark Iraq trip

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has received a warm welcome in Baghdad on the first ever visit to Iraq by an Iranian president. The visit marks the culmination of a process of normalisation between the two countries after the long war they fought in the 1980s.
Correspondents say the two-day visit is also a strong show of support for the Shia-dominated government in Baghdad.

Is it not funny that those with 160,000 forces in Iraq accuse us of interference

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Mutual accusations
The US has accused Iran of supporting Shia militants in Iraq, a charge Tehran denies.

Further complicating the relationship between the US, Iraq and Iran is the potential of Iran to be a US ally - against al-Qaeda and the Taleban in Afghanistan, says the BBC's Hugh Sykes in Baghdad.
Shia Iran has little in common with the fundamentalist Wahhabists of the Taleban and al-Qaeda, he says.

Iran and the US eventually allies???? Perhaps after Iran has been forced to accept a democratic ruler of US choice!!

Iran blames US for Iraq 'terror'

Ahmadinejad visited one of Iraq's most powerful Shia Muslim leaders

On the first-ever visit to Iraq by an Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has accused the US of bringing terrorism to the region.
He also called on Washington to change its standpoint towards Iran and said it had to understand that the Iraqi people did not like America.
US weapons call
Mr Ahmadinejad, who arrived in Baghdad on Sunday, made his remark about the US and terrorism after US accusations that Iran was supporting militants.

[Iraq] does not want the US

Ahmadinejad's historic visit

"Six years ago, there were no terrorists in our region," he said after talks with Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, head of Iraq's largest Shia Muslim political bloc, the Supreme Council of the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (Sciri).
"As soon as the others(Americans?)landed in this country and the region, we witnessed their arrival and presence."
Earlier, at a news conference with Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, the Iranian president said it was not Tehran's fault that Iraq "does not want the US".
On Saturday, US President George W Bush, speaking at his ranch in Texas, called on Iran to "quit sending in sophisticated equipment that's killing our citizens".
'New page'
Iraqi leaders extended a warm welcome to the Iranian president, who flew into Baghdad airport and travelled into the city centre by car.
Prime Minister Maliki said his talks with Mr Ahmadinejad had been "friendly, positive and full of trust".
Despite the reconciliation between Baghdad and Tehran, many analysts believe that in the long term, the two countries are destined to be rivals for regional power.
Trade is now growing between the two countries and tourism, in the form of Iranian pilgrims visiting major Shia shrines in Iraq, is booming.

There is one thing I like about Mr. Ahmadinejat, .... he is unafraid to say what he thinks! The US could have kidnapped or shot him on his way from the air port! But they didn't have enough time, perhaps! (Am I a little off with my thinking??) I mean, it's just a thought and a possibility, since they hate each other so much! It would save lives!!

Isn't this another prime example that diplomacy and talking to each other can bring two old foes together in peace?

I also wonder if the US will consider Ahmadinejad's statement about the Iraqis not wanting the US in their country. They really should take that to heart!

Well, in truth, there haven't been any visible rallies in support of Bush while there have been many attended by tens of thousands of people supporting Shiia al-Sadr. That sure means a lot!

.....I also wonder if the US will consider Ahmadinejad's statement about the Iraqis not wanting the US in their country. They really should take that to heart!

Heck, if they won't believe the Iraqis themselves for claiming to not want them in their country since the day they stepped foot on their lands, I don't believe they'll listen to Iran or anybody else for that matter in regards to what Iraqi's want. Apparently the US knows what Iraq wants.... which is whatever the US wants.

But when you pull away from the various sides to this argument, and try to look at this in an unbiased manner, does anybody notice that the so-called "Bad Guys" are approaching things in a diplomatic manner, while the "Good Guys" tend to enjoy threatening pretty well the entire planet to get what they want, or they seek military action?

When looking at actions alone rather then words.... who would you determine are the bad guys?

Regardless if Iran and Iraq end up fighting again in the future, nobody knows for sure. But today in our lives, they are seeking talks and diplomatic approaches towards peace. To attempt to trivialize or downplay this in any manner is propaganda and doesn't help anybody in the region.

"....many analysts believe ......."

Many analysts believe in many various things, depending on who you ask.... like many analysts believe in global warming, while many others believe in climate change.

Hell, many analysts may believe that pickles fart inside their jars due to pickle-gas buildup.... no sources or references were made to prove this.... so it's a biased insert which helps nothing in the report except to add a one sided view on the situation.

Good Morning, Praxius;... long time no see:smile:
Still in the fighting mood, I see! Well, that's good.... some women like powerful men!:lol:

You made a very good observation that hadn't occurred to me yet:
"does anybody notice that the so-called "Bad Guys" are approaching things in a diplomatic manner, while the "Good Guys" tend to enjoy threatening pretty well the entire planet to get what they want, or they seek military action?
The problem with the so called "good" guys is that they sit on their high horses and demand from the "bad" guys this and that without budging a millimeter themselves. Quintessence is that they are not really interested to give their opponents equal rights on this planet.

Analysts believe.... yes, that had to be mentioned, after all the article was written by a BBC correspondent.

How many visits did he make to Saddam?
Hi, Kreskin;
I'm not aware of any visits per se, but read here:
As the born-again atheist author of Rum, and a not infrequent imbiber, I am no great fan of Ahmadinejad. But he was elected by a much clearer majority, with a much bigger turnout, than his equally religious, teetotalling colleague President Bush. And for those impressed by that sort of thing, the Iranian president volunteered for the front in the war against Saddam Hussein - in contrast to Bush, who dodged the draft, and most of the present White House team, who were then enthusiastic backers of Saddam.
Pardon me, I HAD to get a few other things in as well!!
Anyway, that is probably the extent of a "visit"!!

This is undoubtedly the most striking photo in Bush's criminal war of imperialistic terrorism upon Iraq:

For many months Bush made numerous speeches, and had his cabinet ministers testify before Congress under oath that he had evidence of Ahmadinejad's interference in Iraq. That through that subversion, Bush and his now defunct Coalition of the Dwindling were being frustrated in their efforts and that many Iraqis were being killed. Bush has repeatedly said that Ahmadinejad was an enemy of peace and that he was fomenting terrorism in the Middle East.

Well, surprise, surprise.

This alleged enemy of peace is being shown shaking hands with his alleged enemy. The truth is that they never were enemies but were friends. Their alliance has quelled much violence in the Shiia areas of Iraq {remember, that country's majority are Shiia} and can lead to further peace.

Bush has had ample opportunity to present his evidence but has shown nothing because he has nothing. Thus, once again it proves he is a liar who merits impeachment. But let's go a step further by also impeaching every member of Congress who refuses to impeach and remove the traitor.

No, he is not teasing.

Contrary to the lies being propagated by the controlled USA media, he is actually quite respected in the ME. Ahmadinejad has given over a billion in foreign aid to Iraq and, again, contrary to Bush's interminable lies which falsely assert that he has aided terrorism, he has actually stopped terrorist infiltration to Iraq:

''In a statement posted on his Web site, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani also said the two sides had reached an agreement "to secure their borders in order to prevent infiltration of terrorists and smugglers."

Don't let yourself be fooled by the controlled right wing media as it reports nothing but lies about Iran and Ahmadinejad. The truth is that he is the best source for peace in the Middle East and Central Asia. BTW, please note that the article originally came from the conservative Chicago Tribune.
