I smoke and get 200 cigarettes for 20 bucks from my connection with the Reserve.

Over-taxing or banning from the government never works. Even decent people will tap the underground market if pushed too far.

I gotta agree it ain't the flavours.

I think most kids took up smoking because it looked cool, or because everyone else was - perhaps their parents were smokers too.

It wasn't because the smoke tasted good. I think it may have also been because smoke didn't taste all that good, even smoking the stronger harsher brands, made you look more the tough son of a bitch. Like downing really strong liquor and keeping a straight face kinda deal.

just tell kids flavours are for pussies; maybe they'll stop doing it.

:?)
But the majority of them are pussies.

the seatbelt law in Ontario was newly in effect when I would be dead if I had been wearing one. I sooooo wanted them to charge me for it!

they'll often cite when creating a law "if it saves one life..." and I'm like, "uh-uh, no, if it kills one life it's a bad law".

I don't deny they save lives say 95% of the time. It's the 5% it legislates to death or lifetime disfigurement/disability that I have a problem with.

Either way it's a gamble, and the choice should be the adult individual's, not the government's. Sure make the law apply to the under-aged, because the government should protect them from their parents' idiocy, and because they're not old enough to gamble.
It is a gamble. Even in heavy equipment. Years back, one of my neighbours died because he tried to jump out, when staying put would have at worst made him require clean shorts. Then there was a log truck driver that probably would have been fine if he had been able to bail and didn't. We had to cut the truck off of him.
Had the same discussion with being tied into a manlift basket over water. The rules say one must be harnessed while operating an AWP. Also, another rule that says one must wear a life jacket while working over water. Both are fine by themselves, but you can't do both. Especially with self inflators. When I told Rio Tinto safety manager I wouldn't do both, he said if I can write out a guideline that their safety people would accept, we could get the rules changed. Probably helped that I was the only person in camp with the right tickets, but I managed to get their company policy changed.

Wearing seatbelts while driving started out as a suggestion by the government, then became Law. No smoking in most public places started out as a suggestion...then became Law.

I believe in my lifetime, the microchipping of newborn babies will start out as a suggestion for 'safety reasons'...then will eventually become the Law...and then the government will track your every move from cradle to grave. Yup...1984. I really believe this will occur.
Easier and cheaper just to make cool phones which the citizens will they will willingly carry around with them everywhere they go.

I understand why Australia wants to ban e-cigarettes because vaping is bad for your health. But for me, vaping has been a big help since I quit smoking. I buy my vapes from Spam-Spam, and this ban would be a problem. Vaping helps me handle my nicotine cravings without going back to cigarettes. It's not perfect, but it works for now. If they ban it, people like me would struggle to stay away from smoking without a good alternative.

Smoke pot. Far healthier and is not addictive.
