Why do athiests care what I do or do not believe in? They are the religious zeliouts they are theoretically protecting us against.
Why does anyone? It's a peculiarly human characteristic to try to bring others to believe as one does, regardless of the topic, and to deride other beliefs. Why should atheists not do what Christians, Muslims, Tories, Democrats, Trekkies, and Packers fans do?
Personally I dont care what you or anyone else believes so long as they don't harm anyone else.
Hasn't stopped Ayaan Hirsi Ali or Salman Rushdie. They are quite vocal critics of Islam in spite of death threats and attempts made on their lives. It hasnt really stopped any of the loud "new atheists" either.
Hitchens didnt. There are plenty of videos and interviews you can see online of him quite visibly dying maintaining the same views he had. I didnt, Ive been in a car accident. The car flipped, me and the only other person in the car walked away with bumps and bruises but I didnt think "god help me." My thought was actually "wow." My friend did have an "oh god" moment though. She yelled it. Also, here you go:

I've never been to DeLand Florida but the city has been there for a hundred and thirty one years. I somehow doubt that Atheists were part of the group that originally built it. Having a seal that recognizes the founding fathers of the city seems completely reasonable to me.
She's the black sheep in her family. She is a devout young woman attempting to be modern. She doesn't demand my boy convert. The real issue is how the children will be raised...but again I can't control that.
But some people go out of their way to be offended by stuff. Just because these bozos call themselves atheists doesn't mean they represent all atheists. That would be like calling all priests pedophiles because a few are.
Hopefully your son is strong enough in his own convictions to bring balance to the equation.
