Chrysler will close all 30 of its manufacturing plants for a month, starting Friday, to conserve cash and match production to slowing demand, the Detroit automaker announced on Wednesday.

Also on Wednesday, Ford announced it will shut down 10 of its North American assembly plants for an extra week in January due to the slumping U.S. auto market.

General Motors will suspend much of its North American production in January as it cuts 250,000 vehicles from its first-quarter output.

The company's car plants in Oshawa, Ont., will close for January, plus the first week of February.

Are you affected by these plant closures? How are you dealing with it? What do you think the future holds for your industry?

My father was a Ford employee for 30 yrs, they all shut down for a month this time of year for re-tooling.
Cutting 250,000 units is a good thing, they are over producing and always have.
No effect on myself or anyone I know.
