I did not work in criminal trials, only in civil ones. I appeared for both plaintiffs and for defendants. No expert witness can afford to only work one side of the street, or their objectivity will quickly come into question. I never, ever fudged anything because someone was paying me. I got paid whether they used me or not, as I had to evaluate the injured party and all of the medical evidence prior to a trial. They got my honest opinion, based on the evidence and my experience and training, and then they had to decide if they wanted to use that opinion or not. Often, my opinion helped to lead to settlements, avoiding a trial.
As to the topic here, I gather that we have a lot of real rednecks on this forum. They somehow believe that being Métis makes one a "second class citizen". Sadly, they do not understand that THEY are a major part of the problem, and contribute absolutely nothing to any solution.
As to my ability, I was used by a number of major Plaintiffs Attorney's, as well as by corporate counsel for a number of major corporations in the USA. I would suspect that they were much better judges of my qualifications that any of you (who have no idea what my qualifications might be). My work allowed me to retire at the age of 60, to a mini-farm where I enjoy raising miniature horses and cattle. My wife and I also travel extensively, both to work on genealogy and just for the sheer pleasure of travel.
I am also in the process of building a half-scale railroad on my property. I expect to have 2 miles of track laid by the end of the year, to operate my steam locomotive and 4 pieces of rolling stock (which I WILL be adding to). You know what they say, "The bigger the boy, the more expensive the toys". I come by that interest honestly, as my paternal grandfather spent almost 45 years with the CPR, and my father spent 44 years with the Union Pacific.
