WTF.

Apple pulled 5000 apps from their app store for being 'too sexy'.

Well excuse me. Is Steve Jobs now going to tell you what content you can use on HIS product. Sure makes them look like a collective ass over there at Apple. On the up side the religious right will be happy. Maybe Westboro Baptist Church could do ads for them.

Here's an industry article about it.
Apple has dominated tech headlines this week, as the company has created quite an uproar by unexpectedly removing over 5,000 apps from its App Store. The apps removed have been deemed "too sexy", but much of said uproar has been more about Apple's definition of sexy, and its double standard. Apps containing women in bikinis and even workout clothes have been eliminated while apps from Playboy, FHM Magazine, and the Sports Illustrated Swim Suit Issue have remained available, and even promoted on Apple's App Store home page.

Instead of banning adult material they should develop locks which would only allow adults to access said material. Apple's obsession with keeping itunes and the app store PG-13 is counter intuitive considering it's mostly adults who can afford their products.

Yes actually Apple is going to dictate what is on your iPhone, iPod, iPod Touch and iPad.. Do ( did ) you not read the license agreements.. :lol:

It is one of the main reasons I have stayed away from Apple products..

Now that they run on a "proprietary processor" it will get even worse. They purchased PA Semi last year and are now shifting all processors to that technology.. Soon they will have full control and no one will have a say..

Apple will do what Sony tried to do with BetaMax and lock anything that is not "Apple" out.. I would not be surprised if they do not suffer an eventual similar death.. They really do not care about PG13, what they do care about is $$$$$$ and control..

I do not own any Apple products. The EULA from Apple is something that controls others. I am concerned for them though. You know the old saying, 'Who will they come for next?'.

Understood.. Apple has recently been taken to court on many fronts..

It already had issues on some other patents but along with RIM it is facing new patent lawsuits on new issues..

On a bright side Apple has not made new friends out there.. It's purchase if PA Semi has spoiled it's relationship with Intel and could weaken its appeal when things go real sour..

With the massive flop of iPad I think they are in scramble mode.. The product was not well received as far as a "new" product with too many reviews of it being as said "proprietary" and it likened to a women's hygiene product name.. See this coming back out as something else in version two and it will be interesting if they open up the app's to more software..

Apple is in a make it or break it market right now.. iPhone was really popular but is quickly losing share to Droid like phones ( Google/HTC, Motorola & Samsung ).

It will be interesting to see how they pan out.. I would not be buying shares in Apple right now.. Maybe in a few months but not today.. ;-)

Francis;

Ironically, the more open the platform the better it will sell, for obvious reasons. I hope Apple gets its due.
Mind you if their shares start to slide it would be prudent to acquire a position in Apple as, in the long run, they will figure a way to monetize the i-tampon. :lol:;-)
