According to a CBC report the bank did discuss the matter with authorities prior
to enacting the program and no one raised any issues. It should be interesting
to see how it comes out. The other thing that puzzles me is mentioning corrupt
Canadian Banks, when the American banks and financial institutions brought
down the greatest fraud ever that nearly destroyed the economy in 2008

No Bank, anywhere in the United States of America has been, or can be, prosecuted for staying open on Martin Luther Kind day.

A bank can stay open on any day that it chooses to be open. They COULD choose to be open on Easter Sunday, Christmas, Thanksgiving Day, or any other day, if that is their desire.

The ONLY problem they would run into is in processing monetary transactions, because most of the other banks, and ALL Federal Reserve Banks, would NOT be open.

To me, this just looks like the FTC trying to call attention away from the fact that they haven't done anything about the Subprime crisis or the following foreclosure scandals.
