Another Canadian Soldier Killed In Afghanistan

Most of our soldiers are killed by roadside improvised explosive devices. You would think they would be better trained on recognizing and avoiding this hazzard. The last two were only there for a couple of weeks.

Shyte happens. If you don't want to be killed by IEDs, bullets, etc. don't join the forces. If you want to join the forces, you can expect to be shot at and the like. It isn't as if these people didn't know what they were doing when they joined.
It's easy to sit back here and just say, "duck". It's different when you are actually there.

One would think so. But then I doubt that the terrorists plant the IEDs in obvious places with neon lights saying, "Bomb here". And I read somewhere that a spot might be clear but then an hour later it has a IED in it. The I stands for "improvised" which means they would not all be the same size, shape, etc.

and like most people, you probably only remember the soldiers that have died as a glorious self sacrifice...period.... rather than ALL the men, women, AND children that have died in useless and selfish wars with an eye for stopping the meaningless slaughter.
