Rev, your confused.

Not at all. Neither are the Canadian physicists who said that this won't work. Neither are the Chinese, who have announced the development of a system designed to defeat BMD.

Are you talking about Ronald Reagan's star wars plan or are you talking about ground and ship based missles that are an advanced version of the patroit missle system used to shoot down scud's during the gulf war in 91 ?

I'm talking about Bush's Ballistic Missile Defense Initiative, Gary. What are you talking about? More to the point, what is it that you are trying not to talk about?

You sound like Jack Layton.

Thank you.

It is not star wars rev, it is not based in space as how the star wars program was proposed. It is a missle defense system that was used with some success over Isreal in 91, The U.S. is now adapting it to be used against I.C.B.M.'s that could be launched at American and/or Canadian cities, whether on purpose or by accident.
We have been lucky so far but one day that luck could run out.
Have you ever thought about the cost of a nuclear warhead exploding over Vancouver, Seattle or San Francisco ? How about Winnipeg ?
The system still needs to be perfected and has proven partially successful and I have no doubt that it could save millions of lives.
It is defensive, not offensive as some might suggest and right now is the only hope of reducing the threat of nuclear catastrophy. It would be great if there were no longer this threat but until then it's all we got.
It's easy to be negative , how some better ideas Rev ?

Sorry Gary....the Patriot anti-missile system didn't work either. There is simply no way to make a defensive missile track another missile when both are moving at 15-18,000 miles an hour.

Don't be sorry Jaun, you don't remember all those scuds being blown up in the skies over Isreal ? Sure it did'nt get all of them and yes the pieces of those scuds did fall into the streets and rooftops but it was live on CNN.

-er, those were scuds man. Slow bulky and large. Yes, you could practically hit those with a slingshot. What is failing with the missle defence shield is the fact that they're supposed to stop ICBM's ...Not Scuds, which are also short range.

Yes it did work during the Gulf War ITM, but in comparison it'd be like shooting at a goose, then trying to shoot a bullet.

Read up on SCUDs and Patriots Gary.

they didn't hit anything. The SCUDS almost always came apart during re-entry. The info is out there.

RE: Another Alberta Messa

There was a full-length documentary on NewsWorld a while back. The patriot missiles had less than a 1% success rate at taking out SCUD missiles during the Gulf War. Not one SCUD was completely destroyed and only a couple had even partial contact. The whole hoopla we saw on CNN was a lie and there was eventually a conressional investigation into the whole debacle.

Saying that BMD is not space-based is being far less than honest too, Gary...at least if you've taken the time to research it at all. The White House has said from the very beginning that the final version will be space-based, possibly using lasers but certainly using "rods from god" which are really just steel rods travelling at incredible speed. That will be in conjunction with ground-based weapons. We are in the very early stages of this.

Yep i lived in that shithole for a couple of months and high tailed it out of there .Kind of like most Albertans soon as they get enough money they move here :p

Sure you did, you were really shipped out when we told you and the rest of the freeloaders to get bent, cut the welfare and gave you a choice. Work or take a bus ticket.

Hope it was a nice bus ride.

BTW: Most retired Albertans wind up in Phoenix.
Why would we want to be taxed to death in our last years?

A) Thats good about interprovincial migration as most of them are not conservative voters and Alberta will eventually dump them in 10-12 years I think. Edmonton for starters (out of 18 ridings 3 cons, 4 ndp and 11 libs) seems not to elect to many cons provincially and it will spread.

B) What if oil takes a dive? You have neglected all your other resources, so not much to fall back on.
