I am not going anywhere. The province may, though. And you would not like my house, it leans a little to the right.

Well Ok, you can keep the damn house then...just as long as you sell OUR oil for us at a good price...

Ah now Vanni, you know full well that natural resources are the property of the provinces as guaranteed by the constitution. I am sure that the new constitution of Alberta will reflect this as well.

Long live the Republic!!! :p

Yes...but you won't be a province anymore though will you blue...so therefore, you will relinquish that right...MY constitution will no longer apply to you...

We may let you rent the land though...if you promise to be a good tenant...

But then we may ask for all our transfer payments back. And somehow, I think that if the oil companies have the choice between Canada or Alberta doing the developing, Alberta will win every time. You all don't like us anyway, so I cannot see why you would not just say take your stuff and go. We will all be happier, you won't have to put up with us, and we won't have to pay for and put up with you. Seems like a win win for everyone.

Long live the Republic!!

's a shame we won't be able to import any of your beef..Mad Cow,you know :(

All the more for us, besides, why would Canada want to deprive itself of the best beef in the world? Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Or tastebuds. What do you think you're eating now?

The Beef here is primarily Island/maritime grown.

Anyways Who's cutting who's nose off?

I've spent a good portion of my time living in Alberta, before that the NWT which essentially mimics Albertas school and gov't systems. Many of my friends in Alberta even lean towards the right but being Canadian was and is something that they're proud of. The topic and reasons for any separation (Western or Quebecers) is getting redundant and childish.

I suppose they have to give it away,eh? Can't sell it anywhere with the taint of Mad Cow on it. Betcha even the welfare people have lots of beef in their diets. Seriously tho..no way in Hell will I pay the godawful prices they tack onto a piece of steak here! I'm glad I have lost my taste for it.

The price of Meat In Alberta I did like though. In Athabasca the store there instead of throwing out meat that was close to expiring it would be put in a Big freezer and you could buy it for 75% less than you would in the regular meat section.

Also with those Rotissary chickens they cook in the store. After a day they would package two of them and sell them for about $9.50. Over here a single one of them fresh or sitting-in-the-fridge old are always the same price $8.99 for one bloody chicken.

I wasn't on Welfare there (close enough though) but I was eating good.

The beef prices I was referring to are on the beef sold by Sobeys here..I can't imagine too many of us paying 10-12 dollars a pound for a steak,so I think most of it winds up in hamburger meat. The litttle market up the road[Olsen's] gets most of their beef from Argentina and usually,a steak costs 4 or 5 bucks.Guess where I buy mine?

Is the "seperatist" movement really that big in Alberta?

From my encounters there, it's a small minority. It's a fun topic to discuss when drinking beers, but in comparison the Quebec separation is about x10,000 larger than what's in Alberta. The ones active in it are usually quite loud which is why it we end up hearing about it more often than not.

Just a question...you say OUR oil, as in all of Canada's. But if Alberta were to seperate and Canada would try to claim the oil as theirs, wouldn't that mean that Alberta has a right to partial ownership of resources in other provinces? Somehow I don't think that would fly.

And just to go off topic for a bit...Missile, awesome signature, one of my favorite AOF songs right there.

You're right, China owns Alberta's oil. :sad2:

I thought it was all satire, like Quebec's. :D
