actaully JO Canadian the liberals over tax its a fact. It so they can have money to buy voters.... remmeber before this summer break paul martin and the libs were promising/spending money like there was no tomorrow.

these jerks could lower taxes but they don't..they see tax moeny as their money to buy votes to stay in powern and fund thier bullshit gun registry and whatnot.... why do they always underestimate damn surpluses......

they take on damn stupid things without evern thinking.... i mean look at health care.. they jsut accuse teh conservative of trying to destroy healh care....but many superior european models have both private and public and its way better than Canada or in the US....wake up the libs are CONS

We could easily lower income tax as well as corporate tax( to attract more jobs) but these hacks are pissing us away....

the way i see it is that surpluses is OUR money .....why dont we have tax cuts..... why does this governmet get to spend our money to test out liberal ideas...gun registery, sponshorship mess, day care (money shouuld of gone to health care, i mean dont open another inefficient program shit fix health care!!!!)

the only thing uglier than liberal inefficiency is mr Paul Martins mug....geez

I can find a few billion without even trying.
- Reduce or eliminate government waste & corruption
- Get rid of the multiculturism department...it should be up to the different cultures to encourage their culture.
- Get rid of the gun registry....it costing well over a billion and does nothing to reduce crime.
- Stop appeasing Quebec....if they really want to go let em, they should be treated no different than other Canadians.
- Reduce the size of our federal government and eliminate redundant departments.
You guys have any ideas how we can do things better ?
It's easy to criticise....but that does'nt solve anything .

yup im not saying that conservatives are the cure all answer ........ but someone needs to take out the trash even if at least for a year or so

who the hell is martin thinks he can critisize the UN......he cant even meet the 0.7% to aid poor countries!
dang we should of took the wasted gun registry money and gave it to poor africans.....

What about him talking about kyoto ....... what a bunch of crap....... we are increasing our emmisions not decreasing and he can school the UN lol.

I want to reduce emmisions but kyoto is not the answer....I dont want my fecking tax dollars going to russia and china geeeeezzz......they jsut gonna use coal power there and pollute more... why the hell would we buy credits from from these countries???????

why can't the Liberals think instead of trying to show the worlld that they follow any fad blindlessly..... kyoto has some good ideas but we can do better..... it is a very good plan for the European countries who have older infastructe but here we have to come up with better solutions......

.....and overtaxing us at the gas pump is not the solution to our problems.......

Mr mom2 glad to see we aggree on some issues

What Kyoto did was raise awarness about the problem but is not the cure. The real cure will be when we no longer rely on fossil fuels !

We have technology to not use fossil fuels but no political will power as the big auto, big oil and big business pull ther politicians strings. But eventually it will happen and Alberta will be bust along with the mid east. But by then it may be too late as too much damage to the planet may of been done by then.

Yes, I'm sure you've got all the info. All I've seen you do is copy and paste right-wing bashing articles from obviously slanted left wing sources. Keep blaming the evil corporations buddy.

The right to free day care.

There is no such thing as "free" day care. You want to help people, there are better ways of doing it. Keep the money in their hands, instead of taking it in taxes, then "giving" it back in a poorly conceived daycare program.

- Free dental care for children.

- Grants to most university students covering tuition, subsidized meals and housing.

:thumbleft: to free dental care for children. WRT tuition grants, make them loans that will be written off upon graduation. I don't want to pay the freight for someone to go to university and take arts just because their friends are going and then flunk out after one semester.

- Extended home care and parental leaves.

- Real job retraining programs for the unemployed.

- A legal guarantee that all who are unable to meet their day to day necessities are entitled to the necessary basic income and care.

- Five weeks paid vacation, with two weeks extra holiday pay for all workers.

Five weeks vacation? Isn't France trying to get rid of that now because they were falling behind and couldn't compete with other nations?

I agree that this one-time rebate is completely uninspired and could be much better spent.

I don't want to pay the freight for someone to go to university and take arts just because their friends are going and then flunk out after one semester.

They are likely to learn a lot, even flunking out of arts. Hell, they can learn a lot just by sitting around the campus pub. The money is there, fund them.

Keep the money in their hands, instead of taking it in taxes, then "giving" it back in a poorly conceived daycare program.

Those at the bottom of the wage scale do not save enough in taxes to pay for daycare. The lack of access to daycare can keep them from advancing so they earn more, and can lead to generational reinforcement of the issues that lead to low-wage positions.

At the same time, tax breaks for the rich combined with special programs for low wage earners lead to the children of low wage earners receiving sub-standard care. Those same programs are the most likely to be cancelled in the future as the neo-cons ramp up their continuing war on the poor.
