One of the first clues to the fanatic family is a statement I hear from time to time.
In this house we believe this, It suggests we are Christians and we have one
thought about almost anything. The fact is in many of these homes the family
does not have one belief. I had a friend that used to hide in the closet or cupboards
so she wouldn't have to go to church because she believed they were crazy.
She was eight years old.
My mother was a devout Catholic and all that wonderful doctrine that comes with it.
My father was a CCF of the left for the most part but not all. As parents they adopted
a view that each family member was an individual and could believe or not believe
whatever they thought. It made for some great discussions. I had to go to church though
until I was of age couldn't wait to opt out of that whole process.
