I can't believe anyone still thinks that Jews control the media... I am speechless on that one.

As far as hiring quotas, it is complete bs that white men can't get into the RCMP. More than 2/3 of their troops are still made up of white men. My brother was one of them, finished training last year. White men don't make up 2/3 of the population, so I think they are still doing pretty well. Do they actively encourage minorities and women to apply? Yes, because that's to their advantage. Do you think Jerry O'Connel can go undercover in an Asian gang? Pose as a prostitute for a sting operation? There are sometimes when race and gender and culture are important to consider.

RE: And I thought Austral

This is a weird and vaguely disturbing thread.

No kidding Summer! I'm just kinda reading, partially speechless.

But lets be fair...racism has been a part of society all around the world. No society is exempt from it. Canada is no different than any other European, North American, South American, Australian, Asian, Middle Eastern or African country. People will always have views, based on their pereceptions of how they have been treated. And in the absence of true leadership or fair policy, its easier to blame someone or some group, especially if to that person, that perception gets reinforced over and over.

And racism is not just a "white" thing. Anyone of any race or creed, regardless if they are in the minority or majority, is capable of racism.

Be sure not to toss out blanket statements like "so and so is a racist". Its an unfair accusation AND in no way moves any argument or debate further.

Incidently, does one really know the financial situation to accuse that person of not getting financing just because they are of a certain culture.

You can have the native aussie welfare bum with perfect credit, whereas the professional appearing guy could have credit in the toilet.

You got that right. Just look at the racial anamosity/tension between Asian peoples. Speak the wrong dialect, come from a different location and you're at the bottom of the social caste...but that's in the old world. In the New world here it is seen more as a 'white' thing mainly because of our history, but as more people of different origins come together there will always be a few bad apples...for the lack of a better term, to bring up old ideologies.

There were two parts to the demonstrations in Australia. The first was when a group of young Muslims started to harass and insult young Sheilas (that's Aussie for girl.. ) about wearing bikinis. They were confronted by 2 lifeguards who told them to knock it off. A gang of these 'Lions of Lebanon' then assaulted these two lifeguards. That wasn't racist eh. Coming from some defined minority gives you an absolute right to insult and assault who you want?

If you don't like the scenary.. stay off the beach is all I can say. But that doesn't justify getting liquored up and attacking anyone who looks Middle Eastern. I'd just like to see some balanced coverage of the event.

At a Quebec Major Junior Hockey League game Friday between the Moncton Wildcats and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens, fans let fly with a barrage of racial slurs against Wildcats coach Ted Nolan, an Aboriginal Canadian of Ojibwa descent.

This is more serious event, for Canada. I would assume liquor and stupidity played a part. But it sure makes Moncton look like its filled with a bunch of HICKS from the boonies. I've known people from Moncton and I know most don't act this way.
