so I was watching Americas next top model when my mom and I got into a little fight. She thinks the whole show is worthless that its degrading to woman everywhere and that it should be taken off the air. I think its good entertainment....I mean really its not like it shows young girls how to throw up after every meal and such...so what do u people think?

As a man,I find those ads believable[that's the way real women look],and I'd pefer any one of them over any of the so called supermodels P.S. I won't be watching that Victoria"s Secret fashion show on tonight.

I like them too its about time you see some REAL girls on tv. But the show Americas next top model is fun to wach. Canada is comming out with its own version so obviously its popular.

I personally do not think that this show degrades women. At the most it might perpetrate an ideal standard that will probably be unattainable for most women. But they do show them at their worst without makeup etc. And it also shows how hard./cruel the industry is, how much effort goes into getting "that look" and so on.

There are plenty of shows that degrade women in a far worse way.

The beauty biz is very tough....cut throat. Only a slect few are "perfect" enough. The general population is not worthy. You are used up by 25 if not before. The women work hard at looking an staying "beautiful", sometimes no matter what the cost.

It's our society, that has deemed a skinny woman is attractive. It's an unrealistic body image, that is unattainable to most. I don't think the women are being degraded, they chose their profession, ...no ? They are there willingly. The models aren't stupid , they make tons of $$. playing the part.
Every Mans/ Womens FANTASY....... (fill in yours.....).

.............. that is what people forgot, it's not real life.
Hollywood does not = reality. It's all sparkly and every thing is nice, sunny, warm, lots of $ flowing, and it's all new, and shiny, and EVERYONE is beautiful..........I don't know where you live , but it's just not like that here.

... it's just pretend , try and keep it in mind, if you like to watch.

i have to say though i prefer models over the canadian average woman that has that most miserable combination of genetics (short and fat = fugly).

it has been a while since i heard it. i will give you the general idea:

90% of women think they are attractive
in reality, 10% are attractive
of that 10%, 90% are either b*&%ches and/or psychotic.
thus only 1% of women are dateable.

I don't like pop culture. The reason is it's based on a series of fads, and isn't concrete enough to build a stable society upon, which kind of explains our society. I won't date women that subscribe to this bullsh*t. Me, I'm a real man. The kind that can fix a car, take care of his family, voice his opinions, and stands his ground through hell or high water. I'm no metrosexual pritty boy, as that's a total joke. The reason I mainly wouldn't ever date these young women my age, is because everything is a fad to them. Their personality, their interests, behaviour, and even boyfriends. When you fall in love with a person, you fall in love with everything they are, and if they are always dynamic and changing, it's easy for to lose interest in that person. We can't just be doing what works for us at the time all of our lives. We have to create our own identity by developing our beliefs, opinions, personality, and interests for ourselves. We have to focus on what's great about ourselves, and not be so quick to adopt what appeals to others. I think the majority of people nowadays have no identity, and can now be generalized into very distinguishable groups that are pop culture stereotypes. It's even in our advertising. They aren't selling products anymore, they're selling lifestyles.

The funny thing, is that deep down all women desire a man that is like me. I see it all the time, and I'm constantly being hit on by women that are in serious relationships, but not single ones. The reason is that i'm everything the average guy lacks, and they don't see it until they are in a relationship where thier boyfriends lack what I have to offer. However, I'd never start a relationship with a women who leaves her man for a better man, because there is no way of telling if i'm what she wants, or just another fad. All I'm looking for in a women is someone who has their own opinions, a healthy life philosophy, and the desire to please me, and I her in return. I have yet to meet this woman.

Finding real people in general, is getting harder and harder every day.
