I think Provincially the welfare programs vary. For example in BC
I think we have a system that is not the best but it does the job.
Quebec is miles ahead and I would think better than the USA
because they have long ago developed a social welfare model
that is better thought out.
I use washington State as an example, for say foster kids. In BC
the government provides medical dental and those necessities as
does Washington I understand. Where differences come is in the
area of clothing and other benefits. Charitable organizations raise
money and clothing for shoes and schools supplies etc. In BC its
government allowance for that. There are so many trade off though
and it would be interesting to see how State and Provincial
governments could learn things from each other instead just claiming
we are better than you and vice versa
