I'll never forget the time when I worked at a cabinet shop in a little section of Phoenix by the name of Sunnyslope. Aside from a small portion of it being of industrial zoning,,small businesss etc, the majority of the area was residential of the low income housing kind. AKA slumville. In those days several hundred Viet Namese refugees were placed in that area, most of them working at a windshield cover factory located in the area. When you drove through the neighborhoods, you see several of the refugees just sitting,,,squatting actually,,and just kinda staring the day away. You could see in their eyes that they didn't feel welcome, and believe me they were not. They probably felt disoriented, dislocated and wanting. Maybe wanting to be home, which could never happen again. When I hear about shyt like this I recall those people. The issue produces mixed emotions in me because I know that I would probably feel uncomfortable having change forced upon my little world. Then another part of me feels that were I in their shoes, how would I feel having my world ripped apart, and having to go somewhere hoping for a better life for my family, and then feeling unwelcome and looked upon as a burden on others. =Reminds me of my ancestry which came to this country to escape famine,,,and also during the depression when they had to go west to work, and be treated like shyt because they were poor. I see both sides of the shyt,,,and seems to me wouldn't it be to everyones best interest to make the best of a bad situation? Who the hell knows.
